Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I seem to have a problem with my Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L. I bought the components listed below, to build a computer: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz BOX Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L 187.70 Kingston HyperX DDR2 2x2048MB 1066MHz CL5 (5-5-5-15) BOX Sapphire Radeon HD 4650 512MB DDR2 (1GB HyperMemory) PCI-E BOX + Modecon 400W power supply I built it, powered it up and..... nothing. The fans start running, the on-board leds flash one time and go off and that's baisically it. No video signal, not even a*beep* from the PC speaker. I though at first that it's the power supply's fault so I plugged my Pentagram 620W up but still nothing. I am baisically in a jam here. I took out the RAM and the video card but still things are silent. Could it somehow be the processor fault? Do you have any suggestions as to how to check what could be the reason? I can't check the RAM as my mobo has DDR3 slots. I can check the video card, but if something would be wrong with it, the motherboard would *beep* it out for me. Please help.

SOURCE: want to konw that will new graphic cards work on my pc??

I suggest that you need to buy the SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5770 1GB graphics card. It is compatible to your ASUS motherboard. It will display and work faster.

SOURCE: I'm currently using win 7

You may want to download memtest86+ and burn it to a CD, boot from that CD and it will tell you if the memory stick is bad.

It does sound like bad memory though

the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer
hope this helps

What cpu is compatible with motherboard GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3

Go to http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/download-center.aspx?kw=GA-965P-DS3

and click on revision 1.0 - 3.3 as there may be additional CPUs supported in Rev 3.3 vs 1.0, you have to determine what specific Revision you have.

Need a prossesor for motherboard

You can also use any other intel 775 socket processor as well. The dual cores are at the top of the list for performance that are compatible with that board, but if you're looking for a cheaper solution, I have that board with a 3GHz pentium 4 and it runs great. Here's a list of all the processors you can use.
Intel Pentium 4 (2.66 - 3.80 GHz)
Intel Celeron D (2.53 - 3.60 GHz )
Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition
(3.20 - 3.73 GHz)
Intel Pentium D (2.66 - 3.60 GHz)
Intel Pentium Extreme Edition
(3.20 - 3.73 GHz)
Pentium Dual-Core (1.40 - 2.80 GHz)
Intel Core 2 Duo (1.60 - 3.33 GHz)
Intel Core 2 Extreme (2.66 - 3.20 GHz)
Intel Core 2 Quad (2.33 - 3.00 GHz)
Intel Xeon (1.86-3.40 GHz)
Intel 'Core' Celeron (1.60 - 2.40 GHz)

Here is the Processor compatability list for that motherboard:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2408

I did not see the 3.16 GHZ processor on the list.

You can download the manual from here:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Manual_Model.aspx?ProductID=2408

Their website is slow, but it get to the link.

copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Uppgrade to a faster processor?

Hi
Pentuim D is a processor that has 2 x cpu in one and a core 2 duo has 2 cpu's plus 1 smart core bigger cache
you can only upgrade to a E2140 or E2180 processor on that motherboard
OR replace the board with a newer type

If you want to work the actual speed for the processor of a dual core take the speed for example dual core 1.8 x 2.1 =3.78 GHz
Core 2 Duo  1.8 x 2.4 = 4.32 GHz
