Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

1 Answer

HI, I'm installing the new Ad Aware Anniv Edition but it says I need to install manually Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime 9.0 (includes ATL and MFC). SP1 I have an XP Home Edition with an SP3, I think. But SP1 won't download because I have a higher version. By the way, my folders have been infected with FuVirus--it adds ".exe" on all folders. Pls help.

Thanks for all your help. I finally had a friend fix my laptop and external drives. He took out my HD and cleaned it from another computer.

I am having problem vith Microsoft Visual C++ runtime libary error occuring after installing comodo firewall 5.5 and running ad aware on my windows XP home edition computer. Any suggestions how to fix...

There should be a specific version of the runtime when it gives the error, search for what is called the re-distributable for that version for example visual c++ 6 or 2005, etc. run that installation package from microsoft, and it should resolve these errors.

Vista service pack!!! i have seen that finally the sp1 pack is out but why cant i get it on my update service??? is it because my laptop is not compatible? and if this is so how can i make it?

I wondered the same until I had loaded all available updates, including optional ones (but I don't know if that last was necessary). Then "voila" SP1 was shown as an available update! You can manually download the SP1 from the update site, but this is a 400+ Mb download. Give it a try. Download and install all available updates (this may take several inspections and installs [each probably requiring a reboot in between] so persevere). Don't think that because you have installed all the (visually) available updates that you have in fact installed ALL the updates, some require a previous update be installed before the next update is identified. This is probably what happens with SP1. Good luck
