In this case what i would request u to do is....... Take out both the catridges from the Printer......... Take 2 Paper Towels one should be wet with Luke warm water and the other one should be dry........... Take the Colour catridge first turn it upside down and u will see a small copper plate on the catridge from where the ink comes out....... Place the wet paper towel using ur thumb on the Copper plate and press it a lit bit for 10 Seconds...... Now remove it and see whether u see any ink on the paper towel.......... U should see some ink on it now place the dry paper towel on the ink catridge in the same way........ Now do the same procedure again.......... Do the same procedure twice on the Black Catridge................. Now take the dry paper towel and turn the direction of the cartridge so that u can see a Copper plate on it with small boxes just clean that copper plate with the Dry Paper Towel.......... Know insert both the catridges inside the Printer........... You can do the same procedure i don think there is a need of a separate cleaner for that......... Thanku

Clean the print head/cartridge with Isopropol Alcohol (rubbing alcohol)and Q-Tips, The nozzles, the contacts and all the excess ink that had acummulated around the nozzles. The error message should clear.Run through all the maintenance checks and alignments. If this does not fix it, the print head needs to be replaced about $45-$60 from Canon.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Thanks, Joe

There are vertical stripes when something is printed.

This would be an issues that is a result to drying. Are you using Canon inks?
All manufacturers of printers use a wipe cleaning.. So try to run a few cleaning run from the canon software. If the cleaning doesn't help then the print head could be plugged with ink.

The print head is clogged.Try unclogging manually.Open the cover and first remove the ink cartridges. Then open the holder and remove the print head.Run hot tap water and put the print head with the nozzles up to stream water.Hold that 5 min then turn the print head around with the nozzles down.Hold that for every color of 5 min. Then put the print head in hot water with the nozzles down.Left it water about 15 min and then you must very nice to dry. When the print head dry put it in printer and start cleaning. If this not help you need to replace the print head. It's part number now is QY6-0064, because the old QY6-0042 is discontinued.

How do I remove a Canon 730 Multipass print head to clean it? The Black ink isn't printing - I've cleaned the print heads using the software, but now need to remove the print head and clean it manually...

Press the button on the right hand side of the printer. Lift the lid, pull up the little gray handle. Rock the print head container a bit and you'll see a little metal bar. Grab that and pull straight up.

Canon MP730 not printing. Printhead cleaning doesn't help.

You may need new print heads. They are around $50. Or, you could do this: Take the print head out of the printer, and run warm water from the tap (not high pressure), over the ports for about 5 minutes. Ink will drop out of the jets. Dont touch the electrical contact end of this head. This may clean the head enough so it works again. If not you need a new print head.

Canon smartbase mp730

Have you tried doing some maintenance like nozzle check, printing head alignment, clean the nozzles if not then try it by going into control panel - printers and faxes - where you see your mp730 right click and go to properties then click on the last tab which would be maintenance.Try those options if none worked then u might have to replace you print head and that should work
