SOURCE: dell inspiron1525 laptop trouble

This is going to be a problem either with the sound card malfunctioning after the machine warms up, or feed back from the speakers due to a wiring issue. Either way, this is a hardware problem, and you shouldn't have this or any problem with the machine, especially with it only being 10 days old. Take it back for an exchange. Demand an exchange and don't let them give you the run around. When you get the new machine, you will see that you shouldn't have any problems with it for years to come. Also, don't let this bother you about Dell machines, they're one of the best machines on the market. Just like everything else, there are a few lemons.

SOURCE: Line In Does Not Play Thru Laptop Speaker

I solved this problem by using the full version of the Sigmatel driver used by Gateway. After much trial and error. I found this download does the trick. I tried the hacks on other forums but the line monitor had no control. This driver allows for the line input to be setup for the microphone jack and/or stereo mixer.

A friend of mine provided me with this fix a year ago and I forgot where to download the driver, but I recalled it was a Gateway driver.

Best case scenario: It works for you.

Worst case scenario: It doesn't work and just resinstall the old driver.

I actually installed all the Gateway Sigmatel drivers for XP starting at the top of their driver list until I found D00583-003-001.exe was the one that worked. If provides your laptop with full audo controls, you may need to activate some of the fuctions under volume control options.

Here's the driver download page: http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?param=sigmatel

If you decide to go the route I did and just start testing driver after driver make sure to download CCleaner just in case you run into a driver or program that doesn't want to unstall.

The sound is screeching when the volume is louder

that screeching is called feedback..which is caused by loop oscillation in plain english that means that sound is going from the speaker to the microphone and "looping" causing feedback noise or "screetching" there is nothing you can do but lower the volume it's a normal phenom not a fault in the product but more user error. sorry to say. the only thing you can do is lower the volume till it goes away.

I always have too turn on the mic volume from volume control before i start audio chat. by default it is off. could u help me in fixing this . Model : Acer Aspire one d150 1669.

hi the reason this is is because you could be playing loud music and the mic could pick it up causing a screeching sound (you probably heard this when a mic is next to a speaker) and because this is such a small unit it is inevitable you can set it not to turn the mic down but if you do it will damage your speakers as it will either screech and when it decent 80 percent of the time it still is but we cant hear it and it really damages both mic and speakers that is why it is set like this by default i also have one of these computers and it is because they are so small the mic and speakers are really close so they have it set like this to prevent damage i hope you understand my exploration OK and i hope that this has helped thanks please contact me if you require more info on your net book as i can help you with anything regarding

For the Sony PS-LX350H screeching turn table, where would I put the silicone grease? On the center spindle? That is the only moving part I see other than the spindle that turns the belt and I don't think...

Stay away from the belt and any surfaces it touches with that grease. Don't even touch them with bare fingers.

You need to identify the part(s) that are causing the screech before wailing on it wit h grease.

Is it a physical sound heard directly from the TT or is it a screech through the speakers (indicating feedback or audio signal distortion)?

Take the platter of and look for a reason if it's a physical problem. Look for signs of scraping. Manually rotate the platter base CW and listen.

If the screech is electronic, turn the volume down and/or get the TT away from speakers. Clean the stylus.

Amplifier Screech at High Volume

What you're hearing is FEEDBACK caused by the nearness of the guitar to the amplifier speaker. Always mute it when not in use, or don't move it close to the guitar amplifier speaker when unmuted.

Usually, even though you hear a high-pitched screech, the problem is actually caused by low frequencies, sometimes below the human hearing threshhold (i.e., subsonic) because they are more omnidirectional and thus more easily easily can loop between input (the guitar pickup, especially on a hollow-body guitar) and output (the speaker). The screech frequency is determined by the distance between input and output, determining how quickly the output reaches the input (then loops around through the amplifier). Therefore, reducing the BASS a bit will often alleviate some of the problem.

This is basically the same type of feedback heard when a microphone is turned up too loudly or the mic is pointed at the PA speaker. Avoid those actions and your feedback will be minimized.

Only time and experience will allow you to automatically take actions to avoid feedback. I worked in the San Francisco Bay Area as a manager and sound man for rock bands and several nightclubs for 22 years. My college major was Physics (which includes acoustics).

Keep on rockin'!

My microphone wont work

It is the settings that matter. Go to the Volume icon in the system tray in right bottom corner and you will find MIC in the box that opens. Please unmute the mic and also reduce the volume for the mic. It is high volume here that is producing the screech and muted mic that does not send your speech. So do the needful here. Somehow Windows is in a habit of muting the mic on its own. Keep checking it once in a while.
