What you see moving is the print carriage. The carriage moves the cartridge, adjacent to the printhead, back and forth.
Although the carriage is moving, the ink cartridge can not dispense ink because an obstruction is
blocking the path of the ink.
Remove the ink cartridges, inspect the cartridges as well as the cartridge holders for any foreign debris and reinstall.
If the alarm message continues, I suggest changing the ink cartridges.

I replaced the color ink cartridge. Now there is an "E" flashing alternately with a "5". The alarm light is on steadily, and the black ink and color ink lights are flashing. How do I...


E5 is a Cartridge cannot be recognized error.
Reinstalling the cartridge could clear the alarm.
If this does not work,
Removed both ink cartridges.
Turn off printer and unplug fron electrical outlet.
Wait at least 5 minutes.
This will let the printer reset itself.
Plug printer back in and turn on.
Printer will cycle and an E5 will appear.
Installed back ink cartridges.

The problem is E 5 i cant print or use the scanner or make photocopy what i do


If this is a canon printer.
E5 error occur with no ink cartridges installed in the printer.
This is the first alarm that will appear.
Other alarm are E4 ,E7, E1,4 ,E1,5
It seem that the printer is not detecting the ink cartridges.
What you could try is to remove both ink cartridges and unplug the printer.
Wait 10 minutes, this will discharge power to printer for printer to reset.
Also for printer to cool down if the error is cause by overheating
Plug printer back into outlet, turn on and install ink cartridges.

You need to clean your waste ink i think. For troubleshooting purposes, please perform the following:
1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.
2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.
3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank
properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as
they are not currently installed in the printer.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.
5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are
installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if
you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink
tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of
the issue is the last ink tank.

Canon F80 alarm light will not go off. There is no message identifying the reason for the alarm light. It will not power down because "Machine in use. Cannot turn off". Paper is not jammed, inks are not...


Try to bring it back to factory by removing the ink and printhead.remove power plug from wall or unit for a half hour,re-install all ink and printhead and power cord.Let machine run throug its cycles and try a nozzle check.If that does not do it the machine may need to be replaced.

Alarm flashes ink emptyhas ink! color was printing only yellow/green now prints only red/pink!


any chance it has dried out? run the test / head cleaning / did you reset the cartridge when you replaced it? generally if one or two colors work - the problem is the ink cartridge or the head for the colors not working. Did you remove the "tape" on the new cartridge?

Dear miggsy,
Waste ink absorber capacity of your printer has rise to about 90-95 %. Tentatively, you can continue printing by pressing STOP/RESET button. When ink absorber capacity reach about 100%, the printer stop working and message 'Waste Ink Tank is Full' appears.
To fix this problem, you need to reset waste ink counter. It strongly recommended that you replace waste ink absorber after resetting waste ink counter.
Here are steps resetting waste ink counter of this printer:
  • With the machine power off, while pressing STOP/RESET button, press and hold the ON/OFF button. (Do not release the buttons).
  • While holding ON/OFF button, release the STOP/RESET button. (Do not release the ON/OFF button).
  • While holding the ON/OFF button, press the STOP/RESET 2 times and then release all buttons. (Each time STOP/RESET is pressed, the alarm LED and COPY lights alternately starting with alarm LED).
  • When the COPY button lights in green, press STOP/RESET button 4 times. (Each time STOP/RESET is pressed, the alarm LED and COPY lights alternately starting with alarm LED).
  • Turn off the printer.
Your printer should work normally now.

I have a PIXMA MX700 all in one and the factory ink tank (number 8 Magenta) that came with the printer is not recognized by the printer; causing an alarm situation that will not clear even when the tank is...


I did not have this problem until after I moved, even though I was extremely careful and moved my MX700 in its original box in my car. The problem seems to be related to the small black tray that the ink tanks sit in. The tray has all the electrical contacts on the back and if it gets loose, it may not make good contact with the ink tank carrier.

Try reseating the black tray where the ink tanks sit. After removing all ink tanks, lift up the gray lever to the left of the tanks. This releases the black tray that the tanks sit in. Remove the tray (not the whole ink carrier, just the smaller black piece inside the carrier towards the back), check to make sure the contacts on the back are clean, then reseat the tray, pressing it firmly, but not forcefully, into place. Push the gray lever back down to lock the tray in place and reinstall the ink tanks.
