How to work the iphone sleep and wake button?

It's quite simple. Check this out:
With the iphone open press the sleep button to lock your screen.
From this moment on the screen will no longer be active but all other functions will continue to work- which means that you will still receive calls and can continue to listen to music. To turn the screen on just click on the sleep button once again.
You?ll need to confirm the action by sliding your finger across the virtual slider on the screen.

you have to go to apple .com and fill out the paper work to activate it i did it yesterday and it took me about 3 hrs cause you have to have the newest itunes and make sure you have 2.1 iphone version also

just brought it,ive turnt it on and it wont let me do anythink.. wat do i do? it sais emergency calls only

any time i send a text message i get an error sending message,
