SOURCE: Alko 700/620/600 mower brake problem with peerless 700 transmission

Hi, your problem is simple and is all to do with the brake you adjusted. Remove the two bolts, one either side of the brake adjuster, remove the brake assembly, remove clean and lubricate the two pins and the holes they slide in. Reassemble the brake assembly and adjust the centre nut so that the brake comes on and off. This should be about a quarter inch of travel on the short brake lever. Regards Phil.

My brakes on my 2000 528 are freezing-up. I know I need new pads and rotors to the rear. Thought I was putting fluid in k it is the brake res. but I think it is the ATF res. Please help

As you apply the brakes the rotar and the pads wear down and your flued level goes down also, if you keep going the pads will drop out and the rotar will also get thiner the pads will actually fall out and you will have no brakes at all, so it is advisable to replace the pads it will cost you less money in the long run.

After a winter of light snow plowing my 700 2010 grizzly seems to want to keep going when I apply the brake. Wondering what this may be?

brakes might be out of adjustment or no pads left. you been riding in water ? dirt will get on the brakes and wear the pads out fast especially if it sandy ? pull the tires and check the pads and see if you have any left left, if so, adjust them. you can get a manual on adjusting brakes on yamahas online.

Rear brake is squeaking when pressure is applied to brake. How do I fix this problem? Brake pads are ok.

You probably have a little brake dust on the rear brake rotor and pads. I'd get a can of brake cleaner (about 4 bucks) from your local Autozone.

Spray the rotor with a coat of it, but be careful not to get it on the pads, let it dry for a few minutes, and then take the bike for a spin out in some stop and go traffic so you'll have use the brakes.

Hopefully this should clean all the brake dust off really good, and eliminate further squeaking.

Transmission is locked up.

Make sure all attachments are off the outside of the unit. If all bolts are out then if you have not try a chisel all the way around the case very carefully as it is usually stuck by the sealant that seals the unit.lol.donnyb60
