Question about Computers & Internet
On start-up the biiggest vertical line is about 1" wide (white). After 19 minutes or so, they pretty much go away.vvWhat causes this problem, how can be fixed without havintg to repace the monitor. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks . . .

Sorry, but I find these sites difficult to figure out - I'm not a chat room person. I just wanted to thank dg9dotorg for the comments and whenever I finally find out the cause and get it repaired next year, I will advise what caused it. edierosa

There can be 3 possible reasons for this
1)Screen connector cable is loose. You can try to re-seat it and see if works.
2)display card problem. Connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if the problem persists. If it does not then
3)You will need to get a replacement LCD screen.

Yes, this is a defective screen. The only fix is to replace the screen. It's called a column of dead pixels. Since it is under warranty, contact HP to have them warranty it out or take it back to the place you purchased it from for an exchange.
