I had a Golden Touch 'N Sew many years ago and as the machine aged and parts became worn, step 4 of this bobbin winding diagram started to become a problem and I had to sometimes try several times before the "tabs" would release. If they did not release, the machine "thought" it was still winding the bobbin and would not sew.

Your machine uses a Class 66 metal bobbin. I can get a bunch of them from eBay--just do a search on Singer 4830.

Clean the bottom. The place that nail going into it. You can use Vaccume too.

I can't lift the bobbin from the spindle after filling the bobbin. Sometimes it works and once in a while it will not move. No thread is underneath the bobbin. How do I get it off? Singer Sewing machine...


Sometimes the little spring on the spindle sticks out a bit too far and holds the bobbin on, the only way to get the bobbin off is to force it.
