No virus or malware reported by full scan with Norton 360. I'm running XP SP3 and Firefox. The only webpage it occurs on is the Facebook Home page and only once in a while. When it happens, every device on my wireless network loses the internet until I reset the router.

I can't see how loading a webpage causes a total loss of connection from other devices. That's a new one. Did you run Malwarebytes and Ccleaner?

I would suspect there is a serious issue with your facebook. Malware, or far worse. Do yourself a favor , run every Malware program you can, Is your Norton up-to-dare? Try running Micro Trends House Call freeware:http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

My computer and other devices don't lose connection with the router. The router loses connection with the cble modem. Even the one computer that has a wired connection to the router loses the internet. If I plug any computer directly into the modem and bypass the router, I can get on the internet.

Nothing that has been suggested has worked to cure the problem. I may have to try replacing the router to see if that works.

    Have you contacted your ISP?

It looks like it is a Cablevision problem. WIFI stys strong from my router but getting to Cablevision servers seems to degrade and finally starts timing out through their modem.

I don't thing it's your Linksys, it's your computer. I would suspect a Virus or malware. Run a Full Anti Virus Scan with your Up-To-Date Anti Virus software. Download freeware MALWAREBYTES at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install, UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version. Run a FULL SCAN, DELETE ALL RESULTS, Reboot. If you must , Do this in safe mode. Use freeware CCLEANER at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ TO clean the junk from your machine. In the TOOLS section, STARTUP section, disable ALL unnessary startup programs. Remove ALL TOOLBARS, they are killers on broswer speed. Open Control Panel, Internet Options, Manage Add ons, Toolbars and Extentions, disable ALL toolbars or remove. In Search Providers, remove ALL but Google or what ever Search provider you use. If you don't have Google Chrome, download and use It's faster than IE.

SOURCE: my wrt54g used to work with W-LAN and normal cable connection, but since yesterday the Wi-Fi does NOT work and i can´t enter the router´s page because it dosn´t load................................plea

Your WIFI connector may be turned off go into your connections and see if not something may have turned it off a program or a virus or hack try restoring your computer to the day it was working or before and see if that fixes it if it does it was turned off by something. I would try to remember what you downloaded or installed and see if that caused it.

How do i lock the router

If it is already connected to the internet, open up an internet browser type in "home" in the search bar on top and see if thatn logs you into the router. If not then what you need to do is type in the gateway adress instead. The gateway address can be found by typing cmd in the run or search bar in the start menu. once the black dos program opens up type ipconfig /all.

You are looking for a Wireless Security key, this is not the Linksys password for the admin portion, look on the bottom it maybe there if not changed. Else goto the router home page and check it there something like 192.168.0.1. or 192.168.1.1 etc etc

Trouble connecting to router

Make sure SSID broadcast is switched on under wireless settings. You will have to connect via ethernet cable first to do this.
Then, if PC's can see it, once logged in and set to automatic you can turn off SSID if you like.
Personally I leave it on and set high security using MAC addresses so I don't mind if my router broadcasts it's existence.
