Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My Kenmore 400 series electric dryer stopped working halfway through cycle, as if power tripped. There is however power into the dryer. What could be the reason? Did the cycle selector/timer blow?

It might very well be the dryer overheated. Look for blocked vent to outside(snow and such) lint and any other thing that could be causing an overheat situation. Next check the filter housing for blockage. then check the fuse. The fuse on these dryers is mounted on the blower housing near the exhaust and is right next to the control thermostat in most cases. I checked the Thermo fuse with an Ohm meter, and found it to be disfunctional. Confirmed this by bridging the in and out wires to the fuse, and the dryer worked fine. Ordered a new new fuse online.

Be sure and clean her up good so you won't have to keep from having to buy more fuses.

Electric dryer will not start

You do not say if the power light comes on? If not, remove the plug from the mains and check or change the fuse, putting in the correct value. Then try another appliance in the same power point and see if it works. If it does then try your dryer again. If not check the mains trip to see iit has tripped

Kenmore Elite Oasis Electric Dryer - no power (PF code)

Press and hold the "Start" button to restart the dryer cycle if the "PF" (power failure) error code appears. This code often appears when a cycle is interrupted before it completes. You may also check the breaker or household fuse, and ensure the machine has not come unplugged.

Kenmore Series 80 (110.74882401) heat cycles on only for 10 secs

This is a pretty easy fix and I recently had the same problem. I made a quick video about it. The problem was the dryer was run only a few mins then quit. The dryer limit was tripping because the control thermostat was not shutting down the lower safety limit was tripping and the power from the control thermostat was diverted via the orange wire to the timer motor which kinda caused the main motor to stop. When i ran the dryer in NO HEAT the dryer stayed running and that was my clue as to what may of been happening and that was the problem in a nutshell. My video:
