SOURCE: Laptop won't fdisk or format hard drive.

Windows will not allow you to format the partition you're working from. You might have to use a third party software to format the drive then reinstall Windows. Gparted is a good program.

SOURCE: bios password at startup gateway 450rog

reset ur system frm the Bios ie reset it frm the mobo or just remove the Cmos battery turn on /turn off put the battery back.that bios wont be there any more.

Gateway 450rog notebook cleaned hard drive and installed xp. need drivers installed for ethernet controller. do not have driver disk and looked on gateway support.??


I took a look out on Gateway's download site and found the usual drivers for your box.

In particular here is the url to the network driver I think you are looking for

network driver

Hopefully you can use a friends pc to connect to this web site, download the driver onto a usb stick, and then take that to your laptop and install the driver.

Without a visual inspection it would be impossible to say. But it does sound like you will almost certainly need a new motherboard.

Gateway 450rog does not power on


Sounds like a voltage regulator. Have the system diagnosed at a repair shop. Sorry I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but is probably the correct answer.
