Question about Matrox Millennium G200 MMS Quad TV (32 MB) Graphic Card

1 Answer

No TV using Matrox G200MMS with WinXP

I have a Matrox G200MMS with a TV tuner installed on computer running WinXP home with SP3. I have downloaded the latest drivers and video tools from Matrox. The Matrox driver provides multiple monitor support just fine, but I cannot install the Matrox "video tools" that support the TV tuner. The install fails without any error message, it just goes away after indicating it is preparing to install. Matrox tech support says that it doesn't really work on XP (especially with any service packs) even though they are listed for Win2k and XP. Is there any workaround or other program that will provide TV tools.

Matrox tech support told me I would have to get rid of ALL service packs and then it still had configuration issues. I'm not willing to drop the service packs.

I need installation cd for philips saa7130 tv tuner. where do i go get one?

This particular device is tricky as Philips does not have drivers on their website, however there is a way to get this up and running.
First thing you are going to do is download two zipped folders, each containing the software that you will need. The first driver package is located here (unzip but do not install).
Second you will download the software package, located here (but do not unzip or install yet install).

Third, uninstall the TV tuner card if is showing up in Device Manager. You can get to Device manager by right clicking on My Computer and selecting Manage. In the left side click Device Manager. When all the devices are shown, right-click on the TV tuner card and click uninstall. Also, because the TV tuner card may be hooked up and no drivers are installed, you may see an "unknown device". Uninstall the "unknown device". Now run the installation/setup program from the first download and follow the step by step instructions.
After setup has finished installing the drivers, go ahead and restart your computer. After you have logged back into your computer, your operating system will recognize the TV tuner and may prompt you for the driver files via the Found New Hardware wizard. When prompted for a driver, browse to the first folder that you downloaded and select the driver file. Now that your computer has recognized and successfully installed the hardware, you will unzip and run the setup file from the second folder you downloaded. This is the software application that will use to interact with your new tuner card.

No audio

I would say that you should install WinXP SP3 (if you are using WinXP) or Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver from Microsoft and then restart computer, it should work. here is the link for UAA Driver ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe
And for WinXP SP3 http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/svpk/2008/04/windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu_c81472f7eeea2eca421e116cd4c03e2300ebfde4.exe
try one of the link, it should work.

Take care.
