Cbk 200 does not preheat/clicking sound/doesn't knead

When I put in my settings and press start, it says it's preheating, but the thing never gets warm at all. Then it goes into the kneading cycle, but the paddle does not turn at all, and the panel with all of the setting buttons makes a clicking sound. I took the pan out and confirmed the kneading paddle is in correctly and the base of the the pan is easy to turn by hand so it's not stuck. I also tried to make sure the pan was pressed down firmly into the machine.

You may have a broken belt (not uncommon) Unplug your machine, remove the pand and paddle and turn the machine on its side. See if you can remove the metal panel on the bottom of the machine. Once you do that you will see if your belt is broken or has slipped off. It it is either of these you can reach me at breadmachineshelp.com I can then tell you how to get your belt back on or replace it.

Ok, I pulled off the bottom and the belt is not broken, and there are no tears in it. It is still just making a clicking sound. I think I need to just replace the unit since it is out of warranty unless someone has another suggestion?

SOURCE: My cuisinart bread maker is making a clicking

Hi,
If the motor shaft is not turning it could be the belt has fallen off the pulley or the pulley is slipping, or the motor is broken. The motor, pulley and belts are located inside the base of the machine. Hopefully it's just a loose belt. Hank

Even Replacement May Not Help for Long.
After my six month old CBK200 had the same stop and start malfunction I was sent a brand new replacement by the company. Three months later the new unit started doing the same thing. I am putting up with it for now, but as soon as I have a little more time, I will go back to the authorized repair depot and request another replacement and hope for the best.

reach in with your fingers and bend the two little clips out a little until they grip your pan snugly. Start with 1/4 " and try that. If it doesn't feel snug go another 1/4 inch.... and so on....

some machines do just rotate in one direction and that is enough to knead the dough. Was the final result (the baked loaf) not satisfactory?

I press start and it just sits on prheat heat.

Many bread machines pre-heat on the whole wheat cycle. Give it up to 30 minutes and it should start mixing within that time frame.

My bread pan doesn't sit correctly so the paddle doesn't move around well, especially when it kneads faster

First pull the springy steel clips out so they bend some and stick out a little further this will hold your pan in better. Before putting your pan in make sure the little ears on the underneath side of the pan are lined of roughly opposite of the pan ears in the bottom of the oven that push the paddle around. If that doesn't make sense contact me.

My breadmaker makes a clicking sound when started but does not knead.

That is normal. It is warming up and that is the clicking sound you hear. It should start after a few minutes (less than 30 minutes is normal).

The oven preheats, but then "cools down" before I

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

How long is the preheat?

Typical preheat on most bread machines is under 20 minutes. If your machine hasn't started mixing/kneading by 1/2 hour then there is a problem with your machine.

The clicking sound is just the sound the unit makes when it heating up. Most bread machines do that. Many of them preheat because the ingredients have to be at the right temp to rise properly. If you paddle doesn't start turning after about 15 minutes then you have another kind of problem.

TR440 Breadman won't begin kneading once "start" button is pushed

Hi Mindy.......it takes 30 minutes to PREHEAT this silly machine for wheat bread. I thought I did something wrong, too........I stopped it twice after it preheated for about 15 minutes. I did not want to waste anything so I let it stay in the machine.....I just went to check the machine and it started after 30 minutes of preheating.

I wish they would mention this in the book!!!
