Question about Canon imageCLASS D480 Black and White Copier
The copy/print/fax functions of my D480 has not operated since we purchased it. We have installed the Scanner MF software twice and it still doesn't function. I place something on the glass to scan. Press the Scan button twice for USB Scanning, since the printer is not networked, then press Start and nothing happens...it's as if I never pushed any buttons. I am operating on a Mac with OS software 10.7.5
Go to the scanner company website and see if there are drivers available for download. Sounds as if you may not have the proper drivers installed.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Printing on Imagerunner 210s
depends on which additional function you are trying to do.
You have it as a copier only right now, you can add
duplexer for two sided copies
network for your computer to fax and print and scan
document feeder to put copies on top and feed automatically
There are a lot of options you need to decide which function you are willing to pay for.

Firstly, the machine must be connected to a pc or network. Secondly, you must scan the document to a pc so, after you have switched on, as you have, the scanner so that it says 'online' you will need to go to the pc and 'PULL' the document to the pc from the scanner. However, to do this you will need to have installed NETWORK SCAN GEAR on your PC inorder to SCAN. When you install the software, you will need to DISCOVER the scanner before it will be ready for use. So, a recap:
1. You NEED a program called NETWORK SCAN GEAR on your PC
2 Your ir2230 must be connected to a PC or network
3 You need to DISCOVER your ir2230 from your PC
4 You then need to INSERT picture FROM SCANNER and select your ir2230 from within a program such as WORD using NETWORK SCAN GEAR

Tips for a great answer:
A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by
resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer
from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and
re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns
on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again
once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on
the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).
