SOURCE: Are kitchen bar stools any different from commercial (pubs/bars) bar stools?

Essentially, there is no difference in the function of the stool; however the height varies slightly. Kitchen bar stools are 23-28 inches from floor to seat whereas commercial bar stools measure 29-32 inches.

SOURCE: Should I opt for leather or fabric upholster seating for my bar stools?

I would recommend going for the leather. Leather looks better and it also feels better. I would suggest going to this Macy's site for some suggestions, as I think they have a stunning collection of bar stools

Should I opt for leather or fabric upholster seating for my bar stools?

It really depends on what you want out of you bar stools but I highly recommend leather. Leather is far more durable and ages well. Leather covering is less likely to scratch/tear, and its natural finish should provide some amount of waterproofing so liquid should rest on the surface long enough for you to clean it.

My kitchen bar stools are amazing as far as style and comfort are concerned; however they are slightly too tall. Is there a way for me to keep these stools and simply shorten them a little?

Absolutely. You can shorten a bar stool without too much difficulty. I have found a great 5-step guide that will help you through this project. Hope is works out for you, would be a shame to lose your bar stools.

I would like to make my own bar stools at home; however I need to know the best materials to use for both the base and the seat. Can anyone give me some pointers please?

Most bar stools are made of wood, although you may make them from metal/plastic if you choose. As for the backs and seats, they are commonly upholstered with plastic, leather and/or cloth.

What type of bar stool is best for overweight individuals?

The best type of bar stool for someone who is overweight to sit in is a floor mounted stool. This type of stool is securely attached with bolts to the floor beneath it, ensuring better support and stability. If you don't want to bolt down your stools, your next best option is to get a four-legged stool. Four-leg bar stools disperse the weight of the person sitting on them evenly. On the downside, four-leg stools have a higher risk of tipping over.

I am opening a small pub and will obviously need some bar stools; however I was wondering if someone could help me understand how much space is needed.

There are several factors you need to consider before buying bar stools for your pub. First, think about floor space (the amount of physical room on the floor the bar will use). The average bar stool will take up two square feet of floor space. Next is the height of the stools; which will obviously be directly affected by the height of the bar. There should be 10-12 inches from the height of the stool and the top of the bar. Lastly, you need to consider the distance between the stools themselves, for fear of overcrowding.
