My featherweight 221 white machine seems to be running slow

Lubricate the motor and the gearbox on the underside . Unplug and cycle the sewing arm manually spreading the lubricant feel for the sewing arm to release from being hard to operate. Put it all back together. Plug the unit in and practice sewing arm movement on a piece of scrap material. Run it forwards and backwards if adequately lubricated it should free up of the excess traction on arm movement.

How do you lubricate the machine?

Your manual should have directions on how to oil and lubricate your machine. If you do not have a manual a make and model number is needed to help you further.

Where exactly do I place the oil for singer model 7442

The 7442 is permanently lubricated, and has a self lubricating design, you shouldn't have to oil it yourself at any time.

Are you having another problem that perhaps makes you think it's a lubrication issue?

DO NOT LUBRICATE THE MOTOR!! The machine needs to split, ie the outer casing needs to be removed, inspected, and CAREFULLY lubricated. It also might be that as you have been sewing heavy fabric you could have knocked the timing out.

Where do u oil the machine

lubrication depends on the make and model of machine. most newer machines require very little if any oil by the user, however should be serviced by a technician every year or 2.

generally speaking lubricate all moving linkages or sliding or rotating shafts at the point where metal to metal contact is made. use good quality thin lubricant which will not 'gum up' after a few months.

My husqvarna 905 serger is making a noise and starts running in slow motion. If it needs to be oiled the instruction booklet lacks that info

Lubrication points are in section 3-12 on page 34 of my manual. Look for Lubrication in the index if you don't find it there.
The 905 should be lightly lubricated each time it is used or after about 6 hours of operation. I recommend removing all lint and lubricating when you are finished working for the day so it will be ready to go when you need it next.
It should also be serviced regularly, depending on how much use it gets. If it is furry around the edges, find a certified repair center that you can trust. Ask around at any sewing get-together and you will be able to determine a reliable technician to take it to.

My Husqvarna Prism 990 only sews in reverse.

You could have an electronic problem on the main printed circuit board or in the feed length stepper motor. You may also just have a bound section in the feed mechanism. I don't think there is a cure all answer for this problem.
A 1/2 second hesitation between depressing the foot control and motor response is very common in these machines
If your husband lubricated the bushings on the upper and lower shafts of your 990 I recommend that you have him remove all of the lubricant possible and keep your fingers crossed. The 990 is a self-lubricating machine and applying machine oil to these bushing will probably cause them to seize. The 990 should never be lubricated in many of the places you would lubricate many machines. Hopefully, you haven't done irreparable damage.
