Question about Exercise & Fitness

Treadmill belt runs too fast and will not power off with control panel

Safety key with lanyard not inserted, turn on power and belt immediately starts and quickly reaches higher speed than I've ever used or was aware it could go. When safety key is inserted or not, makes no difference but all digitals are displayed with key engaged but do not work. Stop/Pause depressed - no reaction, Incline numbers change but incline does not physically change on treadmill.

treadmill belt runs too fast and will not power of - 1_7_2013_11_03_18_pm.gif

Step 2:

The Steps for Newer Style Console Calibration:
  1. Locate the calibration area on the rear or underside of the console (a hole, near the console's center, that goes through to the electronics board. (This hole should not have a screw in it.)
  2. Insert a pencil (eraser end), into the hole and feel around for the cal button (will click when pressed).
  3. Press the button 2 times (with the pencil eraser). The first click should show CL11 in the console, the second click should show CL21.
  4. If the process was done correctly, and CL21 appears in the console, you are in "calibration mode." The next few steps consists of pressing buttons on the console and observing settings. This will not require any other tools.
  5. Press ENTER. CL22 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.
  6. Press ENTER. CL23 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.
  7. Press ENTER. CL24 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.
  8. Press ENTER. CL25 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.
  9. Press ENTER. CL26 should display in the TIME window. You should then see the letter "E."
  10. Press ENTER. You should see "SS" or "55" in the console.
  11. Push the STOP/START button. For safety, at this point, you should step off, or be off, the treadmill.
  12. Push the ENTER button. The walking belt should start to move, accelerate to maximum speed, then stop on its own.
  13. When the belt stops, the incline should self test by raising to its highest incline position, then lowering back down to its lowest position.
  14. Once the incline test is complete, push the POWER button 2 times. The unit should shut off and the console should go completely blank. If this happens, the treadmill is done calibrating and is ready for use.
  15. If the letter "F" appears in the SPEED or INCLINE window when the power button is pressed 2 times, the treadmill is indicating a failure somewhere either in the SPEED or INCLINE (depending on the window the "F" appeared in). Troubleshooting the failure would be the next step.

SOURCE: Pro-Form Sport 1000 treadmill does not stop inclining

Do a Calibration on the treadmill. Take out the safety key. With 2 fingers, hold down the stop button and the speed up or spped plus button. keep holding them down as you insert the safety key, then let go of both.
Press the stop button 1 time, you should see all 0's in the windows, or EP 2P or something weird like that.
Press the Incline up button and then wait. If the incline go up until it stalls then down until it stalls the stops at the bottom, the you are recalibrated, take out the safery key and put it back in to see if all is well. If the incline takes off up again without touching a button, the you have wiring problems or control problems. Call service company to get it repaired.

SOURCE: Treadmill incline error

Try this, it fixed it for me, if it doesn't work let me know
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIIxoPtvhy8

I bought a used Precor 9.4 treadmill, but the incline adjustment was not working.
So, I did the following.
1. Turn off, unplug the treadmill and wait for an hour (this is for safety
2. Remove the black motor cover
3. Observe the transformer to the right of the motor and towards the belt ( I point to it in the video)
This transformer converts DC electricity to AC electricity and the AC current goes directly to the Incline motor which is in the black box towards the front of the machine.
4. On mine the wires had come loose from the transformer, they were soldered on very poorly, the wires are stiff and you should be able to see 4 wires coming from the top of the circuit board and plugging into the transformer, I had three of the 4 wires loose.
5. If you are not comfortable working with electronics or soldering DO NOT DO THIS REPAIR, you could get shocked very badly if you just go poking around in there with metal objects, get a friend who knows how to solder or hire someone.

6. It took about 5 minutes I just heated up my $10 soldering gun from radio shack and soldered all the loose wires that were about a millimeter away from the tabs on the back of the transformer, and VOILA! The incline now works!

SOURCE: Treadmill Incline Works, belt does not move

Check the drive belt. It may be loose or broken. If the belt is loose, then to tighten the drive belt, start by removing the front cover. loosen the bolts around the motor then tighten the drive belt by tightening the motor adjuster bolt. Once the drive belt is tight, tighten the motor back down.

E2

the computer by:
1. Step off the treadmill. Ensure that you are clear of the running belt.
2. Turn the treadmill off at the master power switch located near the motor housing.
WARNING: Ensure nothing is positioned near or under running belt which may possibly block
it's normal operation.
3. Turn the treadmill on at the master power switch.
4. Ensure that the Safety Tether Key is securely and properly installed onto the console or just
reinstalling the Safety Tether Key can also reset the display.

When switched on the treadmill beebs 4 times, screen comes on, then immediately cuts out.

Please make sure the safety key is installed on the console, if the problem continues, it most likely falls on the lower control board, MCB, which usually supplies the upper console with it's power needs along with controlling the walking belt and lift controls. How come my treadmill just stopped

Check that the safety lanyard device is fully inserted into the control. You may need to try removing and replacing it several times. Make sure you're not on the tread while doing this as it may start suddenly.

Two lines appear on the console screen and incline starts going up, then when key is removed all lights go on but nothing works.

I assume you are talking about the safety key. It should have a string attached to it and a clip on the other end of the key's string.

The key is a safety feature and the key should be in the control panel and the clip attached to your shorts or shirt when you are using the treadmill. If you fall of the treadmill, the clip pulls the string and the key is pulled from the panel on the treadmill. This should stop the treadmill instantly by cutting main power to the unit. Main power is shut off because the key is a safety device and it MUST work every time. To help avoid design errors or unreliable stops when the key is pulled, a good designer will shut everything off, not just the motor for the tread belt. I would say your unit was designed by a good design team since everthing goes off when the key is pulled.

From my point of view, it is working as designed unless you are talking about a different key.

I know someone who did not wear their safety key and they slipped on the treadmill, the treadmill threw them into the wall behind the unit and they were stuck with their leg against the treadmill. The belt on the treadmill wore their skin down to the bone on their knee in only a few seconds. Lesson one, keep your treadmill at least 3 feet from the wall. Lesson 2, use the safety key and clip.

My proform treadmill turns on and the inlcline works however the belt does not move. Any suggestions?

Enter calibration mode and do a calibration first.
Press the stop & speed up key, insert the safety key/magnet. Press stop 1 more time. Press speed up, the speed display should start to increase in value. By 30-40, the motor should be running. If not, you either need a motor or motor controller PCB. What model is the treadmill?? PCTL???

Belt slipping and moving

Here is a basic procedure that will work for the majority of treadmills out in the market:
If the walking belt has shifted to the left, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the allen wrench, turn the left rear roller adjustment bolt clockwise, and the right bolt counterclockwise, 1/4 of a turn each. Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt. Plug in the power cord, insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is centred. b. If I understand correct, the treadmill will not run correct unless you have the safety key in. Well yes this is correct because once the safety key is removed the treadmill will stop. If your treadmill is running extremely fast just by turning it on, you may need a new speed sensor. www.AtlantaFitnessRepair.com
