Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

A faulty ink cartridge cradle latch causing problems.

On my printer, the small protuding part on the underside of the black ink cartridge cradle latch has broken-off which means that the 'terminals' at the rear of the cartridge aren't being pressed sufficiently on to the 'terminals' on the cradle when the latch is closed. Consequently, the ''print cartridge status light'' is flashing and a message appears on the screen saying that 'there is a problem with this right hand cartridge'. Clearly, I need a new cradle latch fitted but no-one seems to want to repair printers.

Which type of printer do you have and do you have the single black ink cartridge with a single color cartridge. I have a few printers that I could probably send you the cradle if you think you can repair it yourself. They are pretty straight forward in disassembly and reassembly.

Magenta only printing one-half of its width, when I run test printing.

Your description of the problem says to me that there is one thing wrong:
  • Your cartridge have half the nozzles of the magenta blocked either because of the ink drying (which is unlikely) or the tape that covered the nozzles when you purchases the catrdige tore when you took it off, and therefore the blocking. Check the underside of the cartridge carefully to see if this is not the case.
  • What you can also do is to dab the cartridge on tissue to see if the 3 colours result in lines of equal length. if it does, the contact points on the from might be damaged, or a piece of tape vovers some of the contact points.
  • If nothing obstructs the contact points, look inside the printer where the cartridges fit (the cradle) to see if there is not a small piece of paper preventing the contact points to make contact with the pins inside the cradle.
  • If non eof the above, it is likely that your cartridge is faulty. Try another one. 2 cartridges will not give the same problem, and if it does, the problem is somwehere on your printer. Pins in the cradle might be bent or the thin flat cable from the cradle to the main board has be damaged somehow.
Good luck

Colour ink cartridge not reconise. replace colour ink cartridge.cod 3603

To resolve the issue:
  1. Make sure you install the correct type of KODAK Ink Cartridge for your printer. Currently we offer two types of ink cartridges (10 Series and 30 Series). Installing the wrong type of ink cartridge may result in this error. You will need to install a new, correct type of KODAK Ink Cartridge.
NOTE: For more information, see Which ink cartridges to buy for all-in-one printer.
  2. If you are using the correct type of KODAK Ink Cartridge, reinstall the color ink cartridge.
    1. Open the printer access door.
NOTE: If the ink cartridges don't move to the center, see Printhead and ink cartridges don't move to center with access door open.
    2. Wait until the printhead is idle and silent, then pinch the latch on the color ink cartridge with your thumb and forefinger and lift it out of the printhead.
    3. Install the color ink cartridge back into the printer, making sure to press down on the thumb tab until it clicks into place.
    4. Close the printer access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.
For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
  3. If the error continues, restart your printer:
    1. Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
    2. Wait five seconds.
    3. Turn on the printer.
  4. If the error continues, and you have extra, new KODAK Ink Cartridges on-hand, try to install a new ink cartridge (or a set of new ink cartridges).
  5. If the error continues, contact us.
When the issue is resolved, we highly recommend that you upgrade the firmware for your printer for optimum performance:
  1. Locate and select the firmware for your printer.
  2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.

Clean the print cartridges automatically using the Clean Cartridges option in the Printer Assistant.

Manually clean the print cartridges and print cartridge cradles:

Open the printer cover and wait until the carriage moves to the center.

Press the Power button to turn off the printer.

Disconnect power cord from the back of the printer.

Remove the print cartridges and place them on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.

Lightly moisten a cotton swab with distilled water.

Clean the face and edges of the print cartridges with the swab. Do not touch the print cartridge ink nozzles or copper contacts.

Wipe the underside of the print cartridge cradle walls using a clean, moistened swab.

Reinsert the print cartridges.

Close the printer cover.

Connect the power cord to the back of the printer.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
