I had a similar issue. I powered off phone and removed battery for 1 minute. Restarted phone and made sure both wireless and cellular were connected. Go back to "about device" and check for update. Make sure your phone stays connected to wireless or cellular service while it updates. My phone is not an LG but this worked for me, I hope this helps.

To get it formatted take it to your nearest nokia care. Also you can do it youself if you have broadband , pc , and a data cable for your phone. To do it yourself first download nokia software updater from www.nokia.com . install it. now connect your phone to pc by using data cable via pc suite now run nokia software updater on your pc and follow the instructions as told to. wait for 1 hour maximum(depends on internet speed).

Note:1. PC should be connected to high speed internet.

2.phone should be connected to pc via data cable only and no bluetooth or wireless.

3.phone will restart itself sveral times during update process. do not panic for it.

4. You are requested to go for it only at your own risk . take backup of every datas in your phone before the update process.

5. do not disconnect your phone while update process in progress.

download the software update utility from nokia and then connect the internet and update ur ROM thru cable supplied with phone u will get all software for backup and drivers from the nokia website
