Question about Car Audio & Video

On my Kenwood DNX7100 in-dash mobile unit, I am unable to get the viewing angle back to its original position. I have pressed the reset button, but it was to no success. I was wondering if you have any ideas/suggestions. Thanks!

You can reset the unit by unplugging battery cable for few minutes, however be aware that connecting back you may be asked for anti theft code, keep it at hand.

It looks like there are a lot of firmware updates available for all of the kenwood brands. I can't seem to ask for clarification so I would first make firmware updates. You can do that by going to kenwood.com and clicking support. From there, look up your model and get any updates that may be available. Once it's updated, that may fix the problem. The updates are done to fix problems like these.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, it is possible that the adjustable faceplate is just stuck hence the motorized adjuster for the 7-step viewing angles could not move it. It might be that the wormgear is lodged to the driven gear or in some cases, the unit is slightly misaligned in the way it was installed. This is especially so if the enclosure kit is likewise installed. Corrective procedure for the latter would be remove and re-install or if possible no longer use the kit. The former is more challenging since it requires the unit to be opened and mechanical repairs done.

Although it has to be mentioned that there has been some reports that problems as you described are software/firmware glitch.

Kind regards and thank you for using FixYa.

While code request mode,point the remote control to the unit and enter this code 55222277or 552222777(depending the remote contro you are using)(try to press the numbers that faster you can) that is way you type KCAR from the remote control.
you will not see any change on the screen while you entering the number,only when you enter the last number the unit will go to standby mode.
if you make a mistake,reset the unit and start all over again.

let me know if works
thank you

Airbag Warning Light Reset Procedure:
The reason for this is that you turned your car on with the airbag warning light for the passenger located in the vent panel above the radio disconnected. To reset it. Turn your car off. without starting the car (foot off the brake) Turn the car to the "on" position. wait for the airbag light to blink. The SECOND it goes off before it comes back on and blinks you need to hit the button again and turn the car off. wait 2-3 seconds and repeat 3 times.

When at the password screen, use the remote and spell out KCAR like you would on your mobile phone (55 222 2 777). That should unlock it.
