Theoretically, yes, but whether you would actually want to purchase the card is a different story, 256mb cards are pretty much obsolete any more, and depending on your intended purpose, it probably won't do what you want. i would suggest getting a new pc, preferably custom built, as you'll pay alot less, and get a lot better computer. but in any event, as long as the gx260 has a pci-e, agp, or pci slot, it should be able to support a 256mb nvidia geforce card with no problem, probably not the 9800 gtx, but it could probably handle a 6800-7800

What cheap but good video card should i get to run modern warfare 2 on my dell desktop computer

Hello,

From what I can determine, for you to have the permornace you need for Modern Warfare 2, the following are the recommended computer requirements:

A CPU: 2.4 GHz dual core or better, RAM: 1 GB on XP / 2 GB on Vista and Windows 7 and a
GeForce 9500 GT 1GB memory Graphics board. (this is a PCI Express slot board).

Make sure your Dell has the slot required for the graphics board, if no slot then there is an AGP board, but with 512MB memory that would work good.

Either graphice baord would cost about them same
Recommend, EVGA @ Negeeg.com or Tiger Direct.

Good Luck

You will need to install the latest drivers for this card. Go to the Nvidia website and select the relevant options from the drop down menus.

Product Type: GeForce
Product Series: GeForce 5 FX Series
Product: GeForce FX 5500
Operating System: The operating system you are using
Language: English (US)

Then click search

It will then take you to the download page.

If this dowsn't work then make sure you have connected your monitor to the FX 5500 card and not to onboard graphics.

I cannot play call of duty world at war with my video card fx 5500 256mb

Hi,

As far as i know 1GB graphics card is required for play call of duty. 256 MB is very low video memory to run this game so its not working on your card.

I recommend you that. Please upgrade your graphics Card to Nvidia GE Force 9400 GT 1GB.

Thanks.

Happy to help you.

256 MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 for Inspiron 9400/E1705 Card Failu

Both solutions are wrong. The Dell Inspiron 9400/1705 is a laptop. If you buy a Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 for this laptop, you need to buy a Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 motherboard for a discrete video card. The integrated video is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The integrated video has the video chipset on the motherboard and the discrete video (GeForce Go 7800) has the video chipset on the video card.
