You have to load the driver disk and software suite which came with the set. It will install a software suite that will allow you to go in and set your fav buttons.

Re Keyboard 57KBOBL: Explaoin symbols above the F keysOne is a compuer--another a half-moon (sleep button), but then there's a *=star and a check box and a house and music notes etc.

These Keys are multimedia and internet hotkeys. The House would take you to your home page in your default web browser, the half moon is a sleep button, the music notes will open up (by default) your My Music folder.

What is star tbutton

Ah - the START button is not on the keyboard - its on the Microsoft Windows Taskbar, which is the
line at the bottom of the screen you're reading now. The START button is at the lower left-hand
side of your screen - it has a little "Windows" 4-color flag on it, and says "start".

The way to operate the START button is to move your pointer until the pointer is on the START button,
and then "left-click" on it, which is to say you simply press the mouse button on the left side of the

In other words, the Windows start button is virtual (screen-based), and not physical (on the keyboard).
All Windows "buttons" and "tabs" are found on the screen - with one exception - the "Windows" key,
(found next to the ALT key on your keyboard) - its physical. But you'll hardly ever use it.

How do you get the prtsc sysqr key to work?

To 'dump' your entire screen, hold the [shift] key down and press the [PrtScr] key one time. Thi will "copy" your desktop to cache. You may "paste" the screenshot into your favorite wordprocessor, such as MS Word or Write (WordPad).
To copy the 'active window', hold the [Alt] key down and press the [PrtScr] key one time... paste this into Word, WordPad, etc.
Please comment if you need more information.

If you want to check if the software is installed correctly and the keyboard is working fine try using the multimedia key. If you are able to use the multimedia keys for reducing and increasing the volume or mute the sound that means it is working fine.

If you are trying to configure the Favorite keys then you will have to select the buttons from the software and link it to the particular program of your choice.

Open the software application

Select the button that you want to configure

Click on the browse button to select the program of your choice to open with that button.

Keys not working

I would put the disk that came with it in the cd and in my computer explore the disk.
see if there is a folder for drivers. The specs say it will works with just about every operating system so you must have a vista driver on the disk.
load the driver and re-initiate the keyboard and mouse.
or reboot and see if it works better

Microsoft 4000 Keyboard

Start simple - unplug and replug the cord that connects the keyboard to your computer. Try typing again. If it still does not work, restart your computer. If it still does not work after restart, go to Microsoft's website, and redownload the drivers/software for the keyboard. Good luck!
