Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

SanDisk Sansa e260

Okay, i just deleted ALL my songs! Now i'm trying to put them all back on, and its not happening! Its connected, and then once i click SYNCHRONIZE (add all the songs) the sansa reboots and it won't add them!

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. I cannot delete songs from Sansa E260


Ok, Sansa made it a little difficult this time,

"Connect your player, of course. Go to "My Computer" > "Sansa e260". There are hidden files. To unhide go to "Tools" (located on the menu bar) > "Folder Options..." > hit the "View" tab > select "Show hidden files and folders". You will see more folders to appear in a faded color. My Sandisk Sansa e260 wont let me delete songs


To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

4. Click on the Songs, Tracks, or other Music Folder

5. Find a song or songs that you want to delete

6. Left-click the song once to highlight it

7. Press the “Delete” button on your computer’s keyboard

You can try to reset the device by pressing the power button for about 15 to 20 seconds..if that doesnt work I would recommend you to go to the sandisk site to update the firmware on your device or you can contact sandisk to they can help you with updating the firmware on your device..Please follow the link below to get the firmware

Deleting songs


Not exaclty, deleting songs has to be done when recharging through the usb port on your pc or laptop.

Once connected you should see and icon or folder(Sansa E260) pop up on you desktop representing your player which can be opened and contains your playlists, individual songs, and any media you may have transferred.

Within this window you can move songs, edit lists and if necessary delete any unwanted items.

Try pressing f5 for refresh in Windows Media Player first (with your Sansa player connect)

When it comes to deleting songs, I went on the program I use to get my music on and clicked on the sansa 260 and found my playlist. I bet if you connect your sansa and look around that program, you could probably find your playlist and start deleting.

What the heck?


I had something similar happen. The solution was to reformat the device. connect the player, open my computer, right click on the device, and select format. This will erase everything on the player. DenverTom
