SOURCE: Fowler 12" dial caliper measures 0.025 when shut, how do I zero

There should be a small thumb screw near the dial that you loosen to turn the dial to zero it, then re-tighten the thumb screw.

SOURCE: How do I shut off

Not sure if it's the same on your model, but on a Ultra-Cal III you hold the on/off/set button. You press it once for on, and hold it for a few seconds to turn off. Here is a link to a manual for the Ultra-Cal III. Some have optional auto off.

I have a fowler IP54 outside caliper micrometer 7-8" that is zeroed out. There are only 2 keys, a mm/in and zero. How do I reset to have it read 7.0 at 7.0?

Generally, micrometers are "zeroed" to a standard -- an object of a known specific length or diameter. If you have placed a 7-inch standard in the micrometer and brought the spindle into proper contact with that standard, and then zeroed the micrometer at that point, it will be properly set to seven inches. Standard micrometer travel is only one inch, and only that range is usually displayed. The user must then add the standard length to the face display or thimble reading to get the "developed" measurement.

Hi my problem is this: the display of my Max Fowler & NSK Max-Cal is off. I replace the batteries SR44 and nothing, the display will not start. The serial of my digital caliper is: 385475

Check to make sure you have inserted the batteries with the correct polarity: + side down on the right, - side down on the left. Battery cover provides an illustration.

Need to know how to turn off the caliper.

According to the manual, there is no power switch. The unit reduces power initially after 4.2 minutes of inactivity (it does - I checked mine). Press the Ho button to restore power. After 33.6 minutes of inactivity, the second power reduction occurs. Press the CL button to restore power in this case.

How do you rezero a 505-637 mitutoyo dial caliper

Fully close the caliper. The pointer should be pointing about straight up or close to it. Losen the knurled screw which is located on the circumference near the bottom. Now grab the dial and turn until the zero lines up with the needle. Re-tighten the knurled screw.

We are missing the function buttons on our Fowler Caliper Patent No. US 6, 525,546 B1 and need a replacement part.

This is fowler's support page they should be able to help you get what you need, if they don't have it you are most likely out of luck. I can tell you Starrett has parts for pretty much every thing they have ever sold in the last 125+ years and they make a nice caliper. Although, if you are into digital Mitutoyo's are nicer in my opinion.

I zero my caliper and go out an inch and then close and it is rea

The dial and needle are not aligned properly. I have several calipers (all vernier) which were past down to me from my father. Some are almost 75 years old and still measure +/- 1000th! I'd go out and get a good old fashioned caliper.
