Hi there,

Sometimes, car owners inadvertently clean the displays with harsh chemicals, which can react with the facia plastic.

The only method I can think of in this case, would be to try a light abrasive plastic polish such as Meguiar's Plastix or similar.

These creams are designed to remove light scratches on plastics (such as headlight lenses etc), but in your case, we are trying to polish the display back to a satisfactory optical finish.

Good luck.

The protection function is activated when the speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle. Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. (The reset button is that little pinhole button below and to the right of the volume control). If you do this and the "PROTECT" code doesn't disappear, you'll have to consult a service center. Further, if you had this professionally installed, they should be obligated to fix the issue for you (hopefully).

SOURCE: display read protected and wont do anything

Usually, protect mode is enabled when the speaker output wiring has shorted together or is touching ground/+12V. I would verify that none of the speaker wiring has come loose.

SOURCE: display screen not working

Sounds like you might have a bad connection where the faceplate connects to the unit, or the faceplate is bad.

Kenwood in dash reciever will not read compact disks or USB

The problem is definetely a fault in the Mp of the set as it is not able to process the data from the flash memory or the CD. If will be good to open the set and do a through check for loose connections, faulty ground or joints inthe main PCB. Remove dust and fix back, Also clean your optical lens and drive unit. Fix them back and check again . If it works you are lucky or else the main processor is faulty. Hope you try this Good day

Hi Juarez,

best thing to do is Take the Player out of the dash, and open the lid and clean the laser and rails it rides up and down on manually. This is your best chance of getting it to read discs again and not buying a new Cd player. You can do it....
