What do you mean restarts without rebooting. There is a prompt when the computer is booting up to press any key to boot from cd. Are you doing this? Or are you even seeing this prompt?

Check your BIOS to load the from CD first. Also turn off the Acer logo at start if you can. look for a "Tab to see boot up"

My dell computer won't reboot. How do I reboot it from a cd?

If you are running Windows XP, open the DVD tray (if you could), then load the Win XP installer.

Restart the computer, and it will tell you to press any key if you would like to boot from CD.

Just hit any key and your computer should reboot using the CD.

Thank you and good luck!

I have a laptop lg e500 it was mabe for windows vista i down graded the operationg system to Xp and now everyting i access start run cmd and then i press enter it shuts down the computer

Best thing I can suggest, do a fresh install of Windows XP. If you have a boot disk, I would suggest going into fdisk and wiping out the paritions and then creating one primary partition. After that then reboot with the boot disk and then format the drive using the command "format c: /u/c" without the quotes. After the format is done then reboot with the windows xp cd and install windows xp. It'll be a fresh copy at this point. Lots of times when doing an upgrade or downgrade some files get corrupted and weird things can happen. Do it this way and let me know what happens.

I have an acer travelmate 252LC_DT which whenever I start doesn't load the operating system and just displays a blank screen. Prior to this the Micro-antivirus 2009 virus was located on the laptop and I...

ok my friend as you said the operating system is not loading any more so that means we are having some corrupt files that makes the windows to fail while trying to boot up.

and since you cannot even log in to the computer even in safe mode that means you have only two options.

first is to try a repair (most of the computers use F12 key to get to the repair counsel).
second reinstalling windows.

so try the first one if it doesn't work then reinstalling windows will be the last thing to do.

if you need and further help please let me know

cheers

I don't know how to reboot my Acer Travelmate 2480. Please give some advice. Im trying to reboot because my dvd players region got set accidentally to region 3 but i need it on region 1

To set your Region back to 1:
  • Right click my computer, then properties.
  • click on hardware, then "Device Manager".
Here, click the plus sign next to "DVD/CD-ROM Drives"

Double Click your Disk Drive (you can also Right click and then click properties)
Click on the "DVD Region" Tab.

on the list, click "United States"
click "OK"
If it asks you to restart, accept.

After restart, check that its still Region one by following the previous steps.

Compaq Deskpro EN contant restarting when attempting to load XP

Last time this happened to me, I had to reformat and reinstall windows. I tried all those modes, and I even tried the windows repair. None of that worked, I just did a complete new install. All of the data will be lost, if you do this.

My advice, if you need some of the data on that hard drive, you need to hook the drive up to another computer and backup what you need.

Or buy another hard drive, install windows on the new drive. Now slave the old and backup the data.
