Question about Brother Sewing Machines

1 Answer

The sewing maching stops while it is sewing - makes a squeeling sound and has a E6 error message, but I don't see any thread anywhere that could be causing the problem

The sewing machine is a couple of years old and has not had any maintence done to it at all

Try rethreading the machine top and bobbin
make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way
try another bobbin
try a new needle-one that is for the fabic being sewed
if none of these suggestions help then it would be a good idea to
have the machine serviced

SOURCE: E1 Error

If your sewing machine show's the E1 Error, then you have to open your sewing machine and replace the fuse.(you have to open the right Cover on Front where the Display is placed, because there is the circuit board placed!) There are 3 Fuses in the Sewing machine and they are placed at the printed circuit board. It should be the Fuse in the middle. (not those with the wire in it!) It's not easy at all to open the machine, the best thing you can do (if you have a Digicam) take some Pictures of the wiring so it will be much easier to put it back together. I'm NOT an Expert; but a passionate hobbyist. ;) If you are too; just save yourself further trouble with the helpdesk, and fix it yourself. I hope this post could help you!

actually e2 is the button hole lever being down. e6 means that the thread is tangled and to prevent the motor from overheating the machine automatically stops. All you have to do is re-thread the machine and take the bobbin out, untangle it and put it back in and sew. This usually works. If it keeps happening, there could be a few things wrong.

1. if you are using thick fabric your tension should be lower. normal tension is 5.

2. your machine is out of alignment. take it in to a service center, they can fix it in 5 minutes. to find a service center near you go to http://www.brother-usa.com/service/

3. your needle is old or bent and should be replaced.

4. Your needle is too thick, standard is 80. The thicker the fabric, the thicker the needle.

Are you using the right size needle? Try using an 80. Also try taking it to a service center. To find one near you go here: http://www.brother-usa.com/service/

SOURCE: Error message on Brother SE-270D sewing machine

The safety device will activate if the machine has a bind or is unable to run at correct speed. If you turn the handwheel is it tight/hard to turn? if it is than thats it. Now what is binding the machine has to be diagnosed.

You receive the error message E6 when the motor locked up because thread is tangled or the machine is seizing up.

Remove the tangled thread, it it still happens that means your machine is seizing and requires service.

make sure to use every thread guide this is important for the tension
try using a different bobbin

Sews very slowly/thread breaks

Welcome to the world of old dried out machines. Stop trying to sew until you have serviced the machine. Start by unplugging it.

Look in the bobbin area for lint and bits of thread wrapped around things. Clean it well.

You don't say what make or model of machine but get some sewing machine oil and find the oil ports and oil, and work it free. Oil where the arms connect, oil the needle bar... if it has an external motor, remove the belt and open the motor.... pull armeture and take some steel wool to the 'copper part" grease the ends and put it back together (make sure the little shims go back in the correct spots.)
Clear and oil the oil ports at each end of the motor.

Lift the maching to it's back and oil where all the arms connect.

Work slowly and methodically. Clean old, apply new... also look for misshapen parts, bent parts, etc.

E6. Motor locked up because the thread is tangled. I have re-threaded machine and bobbin; thread still tangles after 2 or 3 stitches. HELP!

In my Brother CE-4000, it appears as though the feed dogs (which you can change to a higher position or a lower position) are allowing the bobbin case to spin all the way around and then the needle hits the bobbin case. When the feed dogs are in the lowest position, the bobbin case does not spin all the way around when the needle moves up and down (and therefore the needle does not get stuck in the bobbin case. I am wondering if this is a problem with the feed dogs/case?

Very inexperienced sewer! How do I thread it?

The way I solved this problem was to take a break! When I resumed I was more patient and found that I wasn't doing the bobbin right. I took my time and got it right this time....hooray!

Machine is telling me E6 error but there is no thread tangled

If your thread is not tangled .The E6 will come up also if the top thread is not threaded properly. Is your thread breaking at all ?

E6 error on CS-100, thread underneath all knotted and tangled, makes grinding sounds.

Your bobbin is not wound correctly. Check and see if your bobbin thread is wound to loose or unbalanced.
