Question about Pool & Spa

Open Question

My jandy aqualink freeze protection goes on every night and can't be deactivated. I live in California so it's never cold enough to freeze my pipes and I am spending a fortune on electricity with my pool pump running all night. I tried lowering the freeze protection settings but that doesn't help. Can I just cut the air temperature sensor or cover it up? I've tried everything else I can think of. Thanks

SOURCE: Freeze protection is activated on

You don't adjust this. You will need to replace the air sensor. You can get the sensor at or through any pool shop and it is simple to replace. You will find it hanging under your box by the equiptment, or somewhere close in the shade. Follow the wire into the box and find the terminal block it screws into. You will need a tiny flat screwdriver for this. Remove the old one and install the new one, close the box and your done.

SOURCE: I have a Jandy Aqualink

Hi,

Since the controller tells you the sensor is shorted there is a temperature sensor inserted into most likely the return side of the pool plumbing has a small wire. A nut holds the sensor in place on the plumbing side and the wire connects to the board via a plug. The sensor is a thermistor also called a thermal resistor whose resistance changes with temperature and tells the boards circuits what the temp is. If you go to the Jandy web site you can get the part number and replace it. If its warranty have them do it.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I've got a Jandy PDA, PS4. How can I set the Freeze Protect below 34 degrees?

It doesn't set below the freezing point. That is exactly the point of the minimum setting of 34 degrees - just above the freeze point. If it would set below that temperature it would freeze.

Understanding how to use spa with freeze protection on

freeze protection will always be on. when you're done using the spa just push the heater/spa button. it will turn off. when ever the air temp drops below 37-39 degrees the air sensor will tell the system the it's getting cold and it will kick on the pump. you can change the it under settings menu if you want other pumps to come besides the filter pump
