How do i switch to external monitor

Virtually all IBM and Lenovo ThinkPad and ThinkCenter laptops allow you to hook up an additional monitor or projector to the computer. When you add an external monitor or projector to your notebook, you can choose to view the display on the computer, on the external device, or on both the laptop and the external monitor or projector at the same time. Toggling between viewing devices is as simple as pressing a couple of keys on the keyboard.

Shut down the laptop. Plug the VGA monitor cable from the external monitor or projector into the blue VGA port on the back of the computer. Turn on the external monitor or projector first, and then the Lenovo laptop. Allow the notebook to boot into Windows normally. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys at the same time to switch the display from the laptop to the external monitor or projector. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys again to enable the display on both the laptop and the external display device. Press the "Fn" and "F7" keys again to display screen contents only on the laptop LCD. choose support you need http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-54305.html http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-4YQHUC.html enable tv out on thinkpad http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-58625

My projector will not read from any computer. I

On a laptop you have to activate the VGA output with a key combination, usually Fn & F3. The appropriate F-key will have a symbol of a monitor on it.

You may also need to change the screen resolution to a smaller size to suit the projector.

Hi. Love my projector. For some reason tonight, it wouldn't sync with my laptop for an important presentation. The cable works, because we used my cable (pin connector) to hook up the other projector....

Have you toggled the output display function key on your laptop. Should look like a Square Screen and Laptop symbol. Plug in the projector and keep pressing this button.

My laptop is used for presentations with a projector. For some reason the last time I used it the projector would not pick up the information from my laptop We tried unplugging starting again, checking all...

Sometimes you have to hold down the function key (usually labeled FN) and then press one of the F keys to get the laptop to send the signal to the projector. On my laptop its FN + F8. The key should have a picture of a monitor or say something like CRT/LCD.

No input signal form a laptop to a projector

Hi jkoceng,

What type of interface cable are you using to connect to the projector? 15-pin VGA? S-video?

Generally on laptops if you look at the keyboard on the function keys (F1, F2, etc.) you'll see little icons such as adjustment of volume, brightness, etc. Look for one that looks like a monitor or screen. Usually this is on the F5 or F6 key. If the icon is blue, look for the corresponding key on the keyboard (Fn key, CTRL, Alt, etc.) and then hold that when connected to the projector while you press the appropriate function key. This should alleviate your problem.

Of course, you'll also want to be certain that you're using the correct input function on the projector.
