Ink Absorber Full This may clear the ink absorber problem. There is ink absorbers located at both ends of the printer where the ink head move. To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the ink cartridges and print head will move to the middle of the printer. Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place it inside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of the printer to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissue a few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber. Close the lid and the printer should now function normally.

Unfortunately this is not an end user item. The ink absorber is basically a big felt pad. When the printer cleans the print heads at the beginning of the print cycle it spray ink on the pad o clean the printhead nozzles. The printer is programmed to count these cleaning cycles and when the number is up it gives the ink absorber error on the display. The printers use the ink absorber to prevent the used ink from dripping out of the printer onto you table or desk. By the time the absorber registers that it is full it really is soaking wet with ink, you don't want to deal with that mess. It really is like an end of life for the printer notification. You would have to open the printer, remove and wash the absorber and clean the holder then reset the counter in the printer just to get t going again. The manufacturers don't even sell the absorbers because they treat this as a non-repairable printer. Sorry for the news but I have been a printer tech for 15 years and that's really the best thing to do, get a replacement printer.

The printing is disabled once the ink absorber becomes completely full and until
the ink absorber is replaced, you are recommended to contact your Canon service
representative as early as possible. (You will need to replace a particular part
of the machine.)
OR
if you are conversant withe the opening of the printer you can temporarily solve the problem.
Open the printer cover (scanning unit) like you use it to change the ink cartridge.
On either side (look around) of the roller you will find 2 small sponges - difficult to locate though.
Put any absorbent tissue paper/kitchen towel on them. This will absorb the ink out from the absorber and you can use the printer.
BUT MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT TOUCH/MOVE ANY OF THE ELECTRIC PARTS.
