Problem for Canon PIXMA iP4200 InkJet Photo Printer

I printed several pages ok and then it just stopped printing and gave the error message 6A00. The yellow ink tank was low but it had not asked me to replace it. When I open the top cover the ink tanks do not move to the centre of the machine. The green and amber lights are flashing alternately. Is there anything I can do before I call someone?

- Hi,
I have a Canon MP600 Pixma and I was printing photographs for the first time. I have had my scanner, copier, printer for 2-3 years with sporatic use. Right in the mist of printing out the photographs I got the message of error code 6A00. I was reading a message to someone else about purging the unit. My question is how do I do that or what do you recommend. Thanks!

unplug usb lead from printer, disconnect mains, and leave machine for 5 mins switched off. This should clear the memory / logic error. Check to see if the lights are then on inside the machine (for the ink tanks), if so, problem sorted. Only change the inks when instructed to do so.

AP position error [6A00] the Sheetfeed unit or the main logic board has failed need to purge unit. Give it a good tank cleaning, possibly replace cartridges.
Is it still under warranty? Have you contacted Canon?
