SOURCE: Thumping/rubbing sound in drum

The belt tensioner roller has a flat spot caused by a worn bearing that catches and stops whilet the drum is turning. This causes the flat spot and the noise its making. You can purchase a new roller by itself and do change the belt the same time too

Bosch 800 next dryer (WTMC8321US/CN) - makes grinding / rubbing sound when turned on - drum turns very slowly.

This ccan be the result of the skid pads being worn that the drum goes around on. If you can take the front panel off the dryer, the drum will be sitting on plastic skids mounted on the frame. The other thing to look for would be to see if you have any rubbing marks on the inside of the front panel to indicate it needs a little adjusting.

Dryer is making a noise that sounds like something is loose in the drum it is still drying very loud at first then gets quieter as it goes.

The dryer drum rides on a center bearing (plastic on metal mount). In time the plastic bearing disintegrates and the ball begins to rub the metal mount. If left like that after a while the ball will be cut in 2.

Another thing that goes south is the plastic slides that the drum rides on in front.

Lg dryer - front load - making a grinding noise

I also have the same problem as klrlesimmons, exactly as described. Sounds like sand is rubbing as the drum turns, and also sounds out of balance.

Repairmen replaced upper and lower glides and also the plastic bearing but not the entire bearing assembly.

Thumping sound

Most likely the rear drum support has worn and dropped down.
Remove the drum and replace the rear ball and cup drum support.

Kenmore dryer front of drum rubs

Check your plastic drum slides. I get em(2) out of the drum and reverse them and that sometimes stops it.

Asko T700 dryer

Seems like you need new drum rollers. If one(or both) is bad, the drum will rub in the plastic.
