But is empty? Reformat to 32bit[makes it then universal reading for all systems as opposed to NTFS which makes it readable XP/2000 only.

I cant copy a big file (example: ISO file size 7gb) into my transcend external hard disk 500gb. a pop out message will appeared (File too big to transfer) help me please. Thanks

Please check how many Mb free disk space you currently have on your transcend device as the description of the pop up message sounds like the default error message from the operating system stating that the file you're trying to transfer is too large to fit on the destination drive. Perhaps try copying and pasting a smaller file first just to make sure that there's nothing wrong with the drive before attempting to transfer such a large file.

HI GOOD EVENING I AM UNABLE TO COPY MY MICROSOFT OUTLOOK 2007 PST FILE TO EXTERNAL HARD DISK. AFTER STARTING COPY FEW MINUTES LATER I FACE THE FOLLOWING PROBLUM CANNOT COPY OUTLOOK:DATA ERROR(CYCLIC...

A "CRC" (Cyclic Redundancy Check) is caused by an disk-drive error.

When you write a "block' of data to your disk-drive, a CRC value is calculated, and is also written to the disk. When you try to read that "block" of data, the CRC value is also read from the disk,
and a new CRC is calculated from the data. If the "new" CRC does not match the "old" CRC, then you have a "check" condition -- either the data was not written correctly, or the data could not be read correctly.

Now, did the "check" message refer to the "source" of the copying operation (namely your 'C:' drive) , or the "target"(namely the external drive) ???

Try to copy the PST file to another file on your 'C:' drive.
If you do not see the "check", then it is the external disk-drive that has a problem.
If you do see the "check", then open Outlook, create a new folder,
and copy a group of messages into the new folder. If Outlook reports that one of the messages could not be copied, then the disk-space occupied by that message is faulty, and must be excluded.

I have a 4 GB kingston USD pen drive when I try to save data It says no space

Good Day!

See first the free space of your Pen Drive, to do this, go to MY COMPUTER then right click your PEN DRIVE and click properties, you will see how much is the available space. And also try to see the file size that you are copying and compare it to the free space of your Pen Drive. You can't copy file more than the capacity or the free space of your Pen Drive, that is why you come up with that error message.

Hope I was able to help.

I have a Verbatim 250USB drive and have never had a problem with it until I attempted to copy some HD movie files to it from my computer's hard drive. I am attempting to copy .mkv movie files to the...

firs:
try to format your hard drive, then try again.

if you still cannot do it, do a low level format, using this tool:
http://hddguru.com/software/2006.04.12-HDD-Low-Level-Format-Tool/

if you still cannotdo it, it may be a harware problem. try to copy a big .mkv file like that from another pc, to be sure it isn't your pc's fault, if you can do it, then it's your pc, if you still cannot it's the disk.

in the firs case the troublesooting is quite difficoult but if you post your system configuration i may help.

in the second case if allso a low level format fails, then i don' think we can do something for youo... you should get assistance from the manufacturer....
hope this help,
Paolo.

I had the same problem but it felt like the drive was working. I took a chance, inserterd a 4GB CF card, and pressed the copy button. I hoped it would shut off after the copy was made due to the 30 second inactiviy timeout. After about 10 minutes, the blue backlight to turned off and it powered down. I plugged the Photobank into a laptop via USB cable and checked the original CF card files against the Photobank files. Success! All files were copied!

Not enough space

You need on your hard drive at least twice the size of the files youre copying (Example: a single layer DVD holds 4.3 to 4.5 GB of data, you need at least 10 GB free space to copy this disk). Not only do you need free space for the copy, you have a temp file thats just as big thats created while the disk is being copied. Check your free space before attempting the copy process. If youre trying to copy DVD movies, these disks are protected and cannot be straight copied through your burning software. We dont condone piracy here so google DVDShrink and DVDFabDecryptor, and how to use them. Good luck.

You will receive an error message when copying a file larger than 4GB to the hard drive if the drive is formatted FAT32. The FAT32 file system has a file size limitation of 4GB. You may also receive an error when backing up to the hard drive using backup software. To correct this problem you will need to format the drive to NTFS. If you are using Windows ME or 98SE, you will not be able to use NTFS.
There are some products that do not support the NTFS files system or changing their file system. If you own a FlashTrax/FlashTrax XT/FotoChute/PhotoBank/USB FireLite XPress, you cannot change the format of the drive to NTFS. It must be kept as FAT32 in order to operate properly. If you are using SOHO NAS via ethernet, do not format it to NTFS. If you have any questions, please contact technical support before you format the drive.

Warning: Formatting a hard drive erases all data from the drive. Please backup any data prior to formatting the hard drive.
To format to NTFS, open My Computer.
1.Right-click on the Verbatim hard drive, left-click on Format.
2.Select NTFS as the File System.
3.Place a check in Quick Format.
4.Click Start.
Once the format completes, you will be able to copy files larger than 4GB to the hard drive.

I want to burn some CDs), but I can't copy the files, I keep getting a message that windows is having a problem copying the file.

Hi,

These 2 articles from Microsoft should give you all the info you need :)

Read this one first:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/bott_03september16.mspx

If the above does not help there is a more advanced article here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324129

In summary free up at-least 1gb of hard drive space and set your burner to a lower write speed, If this doesn't work it may just be that your burner is getting old and needs to be replaced.

Also the program "NERO Burning ROM" has an option to verify the data after it has been written, I recommend you get a copy of this and use it instead of the Windows XP burning because of this feature.

Hope this helps :)

Good Luck.

Copying

If you don't mind loosing any data on the drive, go to the control panel, and select [Performance and Maintenance] then go to administrative tools, locate the option that says [Computer Management] in the window that pops up, look for the tab that says Disk Management. In the window, find the drive, select it, and hit delete. select yes on the window that pos up. Now right click on the drive which should now have a sub-header that says "Unpartitioned Space" and select format. Leave all of the Default option in the wizard that comes up, and see if this fixes the problem.

"Not enough space to copy files (Files not copied)"

This error message means that there is not enough space in the location you are copying to (internal memory or card). Delete pictures from the location you are copying to, or turn off the camera and insert a new memory card.
