Question about LG 42CS560 42 Class LCD HDTV

Open Question

LG 42CS560 turns off by itself and will not turn on again

We got this tv 4 days ago as a gift. It was brand new in the box. All of a sudden it turns off by itself and every few minutes it will flash back on for a few seconds and then off again. The power light changes from red to blue and sometimes white, then back to red. I have tried changing surge strips and plugging it directly into the wall.

SOURCE: 42" lg plasma tv

The first thing is to take out the batteries from the remote when the problem acts up. If this fixes it, replace the remote. If not, go to the front of the tv and find all the buttons that are on the tv. Start by pushing all of the buttons one at a time. They should all feel the same and sound the same when you push them. If one of them does not, then the buttons are the problem. If they are good, take to a repair shop. The main control board is bad.

SOURCE: LG Plasma 2 years old just started turning off and on

You will need to replace the mainboard, you only need to be sure your cable box is connected to the TV using ONLY one cable because if you use HDMI and another cable (ie. HDMI and COMPONENT) could show that sympton.

First try unpluggin everything from the TV and try to turn it on, if you continue with the trouble then you can be sure you need to replace the mainboard.

LG 42CS560-UE LCD TV turns off by itself Power Supply is New And Main Board was Cleaned

This is normally caused by a bad component in your power supply circuitry. It is also known to happen when your secondary power array (the inverter array used for the backlighting of your lcd screen) is going bad by means of being out of the correct voltage parameters. This function is controlled by an IC chip that constantly monitors the voltage across 8 inverters all working in synch. When one of those inverters produces a voltage level that is not within the tolerances it recognizes as correct, it will shut your tv off to prevent any further damage to any other electrical components. So unless you are familiar with working on electronic components and have the tools and equipment to do so, I recommend that you have it checked out by an expert.

Brand new LG plasma stuck on test screens

Resetting the TV
If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:

Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.
1. Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet.
2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the TV.

Hope it may help you;
