SOURCE: threading a sewing machine

What do you mean you are unable to pull the bobbin thread through, elaboration would help solve the problem...
I suspect I'm having the same problem with you if it's anything to do with the top thread looping around in the bobbin holder.

Damn machine!

SOURCE: Threading my sewing machine

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.

SOURCE: need help to thread our sewing machine.

you really must get a manual for this machine.
You can find manuals online for a small price.
At one time some sites had them for free, but I haven't been able to find many recently. sewusa.com has some older ones for free. but not many. you could try the kenmore site as well, if not I'd try to search on dogpile.com (sewing machine manuals)
Just so you know, your manual is the MOST important tool for any sewing machine, and its worth a couple of bucks to get it.

Usually, the top tension factory setting is the midway point between high & low numbers. However, every machine differs and changes over time. But that is a good starting point.

Why the thread cracked with when i sticked with the machine

Thread breakage could occur for several reasons.

First, try a brand new needle.

Second, use only good quality thread--NOT old thread or bargain bin varieties.

Third, when threading the upper thread, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot throughout the threading process.

Verify that the thread path is correct (consult the owner's manual). Incorrect threading will usually break the thread.

Check that the upper thread tension is set at the midway point between the high & low numbers.

When using the button hole attachment, my fabric is not moved forward by the lower plate and thread gets caught up under that bottom plate. How do I fix this

Perhaps you have the stitch length set too short (close together) so the thread under the fabric is building up into a knot and then hangs up in the space under the needle plate. Try lengthening the stitch length and do some tests until you get it where you want the buttonhole to look.

Stitch length singer

Run through the "10 minute tuneup" here: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090925205957AAq0xc4 DO NOT MESS WITH THE BOBBIN TENSION. Top tension setting should be about 3-4. Stitch length probably in the neighborhood of 2.5 - 3.5 mm.

Little kids and sewing machines seem to have a natural attraction, which is why my mom taught me to sew on her machine when I was 5. Sometimes it's easier to teach the kid how to do it right than keep the kid from messing with the machine.

Thread take up lever does not raise high enough to thread.

you don't thread it like we did the older machines... it has a slot... just come up the right side over and down the left side... it will slip into place.

The thread from the spool breaks immediately. Does it need a particular kind?

Upper thread breaks
needle may be in backwards
Raise the needle bar to the highest point then loosen the clamp screw to remove the old needle, place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side to the back of the machine
Push the needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go, then tighten the needle clamp screw
upper tension may be to tight
the needle may be bent or damaged
thread may be hanging up in bobbin case--check area for loose threads or lint

Time for a semi-industrial or Singer has the Empress Jean Sewing Machine - have not read reviews yet about it OVER time durability.

The Reliable 2000 is a mini monster - but the price also becomes a monster - there are many high dollar machines that will handle denium....

Since I didn't have that type of money for many years I would "hand walk" the machine throgu as much as possible - and ALWAYS have a very sharp fresh needle on - when it just got to be too much for my machine - I would hand sew pulling through with pliers - pushing up with one of my son's welding projects from school. Several machines I ruined because I ended up BENDING the internal drive arm. :( Ooopppsss
