One way to do it is to get a pair of headphones with a built-in amplifier and sound control knob. You can get a pair for between $10-$20.

Buzzer mounted to back of control panel.
**UNPLUG POWER BEFORE REMOVING CONTROL PANEL OR TOUCHING -ANYTHING-!**
Located on left side of control panel, bolted to back. Small rectangular device with two connections and no associated button or dial.
Remove the panel and disconnect one of the leads. Fold the connector back against its wire, carefully and securely tape the connector with electrical tape so it cannot touch anything. Also tape the connector on the buzzer that you removed the wire from.
Re-assemble the control panel.
As with anything mechanical, hours of frustration trying to take something apart can be avoided by taking a few minutes at the beginning to look closely at how it is assembled.

When you are talking on the phone (or listening to a dial tone), the volume control works to control the volume of the receiver. When the phone is not being used, the volume control is used to control the volume of the ringer.

Exactly what volume do u want to increase? Anyway here is what i know:
* for me mp3 volume is fine on my 885t through the unit speakers.
* i cannot figure out how to increase the output volume when using the 885t as a bluetooth device, they can hear me great, but i can barely hear them even if i am sitting still, a/c off, radio off, windows up. no-one on the WEB has responded on how to fix this or a tweak/hack for this PROBLEM - if anyone can help please HELP>
(all my volumes are set at 100%)
GREAT FIX FOR GARMIN VOICE DIRECTIONS: I have all mine set to 95 up from as low as 65 on my 885t. tried many editors and just going into the sound files and increasing the volume there, but on reboot modified voices disappear from the display, so have to reinstall at original volumes. SO GO DO THIS and if it worksfor u contribute to this fantastic person - that developed this stuff: turboccc at this website: http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/
he has an editor that works flawlessly, he also has an app that you can type in and change what american jill and others say. for ex. i changed "recalculate" to "you missed it, recalcuate, you dummy." I will do more modifying later. The volume increase has worked so well for directions that some times i have to turn it down, i found that 95 is about as high as you can go, above this and it would overload and voices would not work anymore. besides 90 to 95 should be good for most people, or they can use the fm radio. i don't like this route cause you cannot listen to the radio but u can listen to mp3's through the gps unit. Follow turboccc directions exactly and use safely remove hardware.
anyway good luck, i feel lucky i found this site, now someone just help with the BT output for the garmin 885t
