Audi a6 quattro 2001 coolant disappears, engine overheats and white smoke comes out

Hi All, Few days ago I was driving for 20 mins after starting the car. Then all the coolant just leaked on the street. And I filled up the coolant container and when I arrived in front of my house after 10 mins of drive, it spilled all over the ground again. I then put stop leak in the container with coolant and followed instruction. Engine still was over heating and coolant disappeared this time did not spill all over the street. I then took it to the garage, but before I take it there I had filled coolant container again and once I arrived at the garage the coolant liquid was gone but I do not see it leaking. And engine eventually started over heating. Mechanic said the Radiator hose that takes to the expansion tank needs to be changed and that's the problem. But auto part stores were closed it was a saturday and he cut the current hose a bit and put some coolant liquid and stop leak and told me to see if it works out. When I reached my house coolant liquid disappeared again and engine was over heating. The day after I put some coolant liquid but did not drive and after few hours it disapparead but no sign of leak or it didn't spill on the street. IT CAN'T BE MAGIC CAN IT????

Unfortunate you're losing coolant into the cylinders, where it's being burned off and exiting out the exhaust. When you initially added that cold coolant into the hot radiator, and hot engine (sit down) you likely cracked the engine block. Best case you just need to replace the head gasket.

is it fitted correctly? If it is not fitted correctly it will do this. Have you checked the relay?

SOURCE: audi engine oil leak?

Sounds like a leaking valve cover gasket. The parts are around $50 to do both cylinder heads from www.ecstuning.com. It's not a major issue, but it may be a sore point to a potential buyer.

SOURCE: Audi A4 2.5 V6 TDI - Creamy grey coolant in expansion tank

Sounds like blown head gasket (or worse) still to me.
Remove oil filler cap and look for grey oil.
Never use water these days but special coolant. Water makes vapour spots and cause block cracks, worse then blown gaskets!!!
vapour does not cool very well.
Look like you have cracks already.
Take a compression test if possible. But might not show op at that temperature.
The gauge indication troubles me.

White smoke out of exhaust

Regarding 2001 audi a6 quattro 2.7t....i was driving to work the car was fine then white smoke starting coming from under the hood and tail pipe. i stopped veilce and alot of oil was dripping from front of car. I towed it home and i looked under the hood and there was oil from valve cover gasket. i let the car sit for a few days, had it running again for a good hour and no white smoke was coming out. I removed the valve cover and gaskets are all bad. i want to know can the valve cover gasket leak cause the white smoke to come from exhaust pipe?

Engine overheats and heater blowing cold air

You have air trapped in system , change thermostat , bleed air from system , let it run hot while adding coolant with blower full blast on all front and rear heaters .

I have white white smoke coming from under the coolant tank, when starting the car cold in the morning, driver side

I was going to say that white smoke wouldn't be oil but I see that you figured that out. Look for loose coolant hose clamps on or near the reservoir or possibly a small crack in the reservoir itself. As a general rule for gasoline engines: White smoke = coolant, Blue smoke = oil, Gray smoke = fuel, Black smoke = "Uh oh, that can't be good." :-)

Why is my 2001 audi a6 is overheating 140,000 miles

Hi there:the Audi manual never talks about a 2 stage aux fan just that the aux fan runs with ac on and it can run with out ac on if there is an overheat issue on the coolant side where as the a4 info clearly states a 2 stage aux fan system that would lead me to think the early 4.2 did not use a 2 stage system. Your car is not overheating and boiling over out of the coolant tank it is showing a little hotter than what would be perfect but it is still in what Audi calls acceptable range. The whole coolant system is new I would start looking at your sensor and gage systems there is a coolant sensor in the rad but that is most likely new if they replaced the rad. The gage uses a temp sensor on the engine for the gage I would replace that sensor and test the gage with a resistance input tool we have at the dealer. Could be a gouge or the wiring to it. There is a coolant fan module that could be defective if your sure there was a two speeds to the aux fan.

2000 Audi A4 quattro with abrupt gear shifting & low oil pressure

I hope that you had the proper weight oil installed, at your oil change. If your oil is up to the proper level, and it's rattling ,this is VERY bad. White smoke usually means steam in the exhaust, and that means a blown head gasket. Check your coolant level. I wouldn't drive it anymore......until someone knowledgeable can diagnose it!!!!!
