SOURCE: Bose Lifestyle V20 Error 180

OK talked with Bose just a minute ago and they were able to correct the issue.

We disabled the power cord from the back of the media console (where the HDMI cables connect) and left it off for a minute or two.

Powered the media console back on and it is working as expected.

Was told by the Bose tech that the common reason for this issue is due to the use of the HDMI cables that have a propritary security protocol that is used between the media console and the component it is attached to (ie TV, Cable/Sat, BluRay ...ect).

I asked if there was a BIOS upgrade if it was indeed a "handshaking" issue and was told there was not one (yet).

If one becomes available, it will be shipped via mail on a CD\DVD that can be used in a CD\DVD player that is connected to the media console using the HDMI cable.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Bose link AL8 connection problems

I had a similar problem, though intermittent, using my 48 with the AL8 and room-mate speakers. I kept getting a "no signal received from media centre" message on the remote in the second room.

Assuming that the batteries are ok and you don't have a hardware problem, the problem might be that the 48 is not picking up the signal from your remote control in your second room. The signal from your remote control is a radio signal that goes directly to the 48 - it doesn't communicate via the AL8 receiver. I think the orange light will only turn green once a signal is being transmitted from the transmitter unit plugged into your 48 media centre, and this won't start transmitting until the media centre gets a signal from the remote telling it to switch on.

The aerial for all the remote controls is contained in the power cable that links the 48 lifestyle unit to your VS-2 unit. Make sure that this is uncoiled and oriented vertically, as far away from other cables as possible.

If this doesn't work, you can get an antenna extender that plugs into the RC socket on the back of the lifestyle system. Again, orient this vertically. You can get these from Bose.

Is there anything in the wall that might be blocking the radio signal? Lots of metalwork for example?

If orienting the power cable from the VS-2 doesn't do the trick, I suggest that you go to a local Bose shop. (An actual Bose shop, not just an electrical or hifi store stocking Bose products). I explained my problem and the tech guy gave me an extender gratis (its basically just an FM aerial wire by the look of it). I installed it this morning and, so far, its seems to be working ok. As my unit is fairly new, he also offered to have the kit back in the shop to check it all out and, if that didn't work gave me Bose technical support number. He even offered, if all else failed, to send a guy out to my home to get it working - and I didn't even buy it from there!

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Bose Lifestyle 48 System play's dvd in black & white only

Your s-video cable at the back of your media center is loose. This will cause black and white internal video and is known to fall out or just become loose from minor movement. (it's the nature of s-video cables) This should solve your problem. This is the s-video cable that connects to the VS2 and media center.
If this doesn't solve the problem (I'd be surprised), just reset it by unplugging the DC power cable at the side of the VS-2 for about 30+ seconds and plug it back in..

problem solved, it turned ou that the problem was actually the remote, but service center tried newer remote control models for replacement and the unit did not respond till they finally tested with same version remote.

Can't get new universal remote to work with bose av28

How old is your remote? My bose remote was prone to breaking. The RF antenna inside the remote housing tends to break away from the electronics board. I have re-soldered mine on a number of occasions. This is not a complex fix for someone who can use a soldering iron. After it happened the third time, I installed padding around the antenna so that it couldn't shake around and break free. That seems to be working so far. Hope this helps.

AV28 had been stored in closet for 1 year. When I reinstalled the system, there was no sound (sub or satelites). The power to the sub is ok, but I can't tell if it is powered up as I could not find a power...

AV28? You mean a Lifestyle 28 with dvd head unit? Is the head unit lit up?.. It has its own power supply box/lead of course. Then the multi pin lead needs to be in zone 1 (or A) I think. The head unit should then command the bass to turn on- you won't hear/see any indication of this...except if its the later ones with the ethernet type connector and there are some data green leds to show signs of life. Some models used red/white phonos for the sound so make sure these are connected from head unit to bass. Its not uncommon for the mains fuse insode a bass unit to fail for no reason..the cover is a sod to get off- undo any screws then move the toothed arm out 90deg first, then give a sharp bang downwards on the end cover. good luck.
