Your machine is rebooting itself while you watch a movie on it? Could be a couple of things. First, is this a laptop or desktop? When is the last time you updated your video drivers? If this is a laptop, does it get very hot just before rebooting?
Theories work like so: 1. older video drivers can be causing a cpu panic condition due to a bug. This is more common with PC games vs. watching movies, but still possible. Updating your video drivers may help fix the problem if that's the cause. 2. heat: if the computer overheats, it will reboot to protect itself. As for why it's getting hot--could be that your video hardware or cpu is getting too hot playing the movie. Could be that your cooling fans are bad. This is why I asked about the machine getting hot.
Another possibility is the need to update either your BIOS or hardware drivers.
Please post more info if you require additional help.
While the processor is running, memory buffers take care of the other precesses the computer is also running while you are watching the movie. If the memory buffer is big enough, you could get to finish your movie and the computer will not stop. If the buffer is limited, when it is at 100%, the processor will no longer run and will do a restart. When you are about 10 into your movie try to see how the processor/memory are doing. It will let you know if they are saturated. Control+Alt+Delete will get you to the option where you can Start the Task Manager. This will allow you to see the processes running and the memory usage. I see in your post your memory is only 256 MB. Computers nowdays might have 4GB of Memory to run heavy graphics. That is about 16 times what you have. You might want to increase your memory.
You will need to open up your network connections click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a Red X or a yellow Exclamation or Question mark ! ? you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled. If you are trying to connect through a modem/router the driver should have come with a disc provided by your ISP internet service provider or your motherboard disc click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X right click install drivers Make sure you Ethernet/internet is enabled in biosRestart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to press to enter set up (BIOS) usually the Delete or F2 key press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys scroll to intergrated peripherals. Look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press enter scroll to SiS 10/100m press ENTER make sure itsenabledimake sure its enabledPci device arrows key scroll to nstalled.
just type in what you want or need be specific you might have to try a few times to get it right IE: Motherboard name lan drivers. Place a tick in either windows software or the all software box. Hope this helps.
Please reinstall your motherboards drivers from your driver installation disk. During healing or cleaning of the infected files, some of the files that your computer needs to have a lan has been lost or worst destroyed. So then reinstall your motherboard drivers or use system restore and restore your computer to an earlier time when you think it is working properly. Hope this would give you an idea.. Have a nice day friend ! :)
My guess is that amount of memory and that 1ghz psu you have, i asume that you running XP, gives you the best you get.
When you instaled that card, the card tok all of the resurses there where left, XP itself need at least 230-240mb of memory to run.
But i dont agree whit you about its hard to get PC133 memorysticks. Its easy and they are cheap.
If the crashes are becoming more often it is probably a processor overheating problem or it's on its way out.
Leave the side of the computer off when its got going and see if it lasts any longer before crashing.
To give you more of a clue as to what is crashing the pc go to My computer>properties>advanced tab>Startup & Recovery Settings>automatically restart; and untick the box.
This will bring up a blue screen next time it crashes to give you a clue to the problem.
PLease rate solution.
