Download AND install the drivers; or try this first;

1) Go to Device Manager.

Start >
Right-click on My Computer >
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list >
Click on the Hardware tab >
Click on Device Manager.

Win Vista & Win 7:
Click on the Windows logo button >
Right-click on Computer >
Follow the last three of the above.

In Device Manager click on the + sign to the left of -
Sounds, video and game controllers

Right-click right on the name of the audio device.
Examples Realtek, Creative, and Conexant; for a few.
In the list click on Uninstall.

A Microsoft \'Squawk Box\' will come up. "Warning you are about to uninstall this device"
(No kiddin\' Microsoft. Ya think?)

Click on OK. (It is OK, I assure you)

Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Restart your computer.
When Windows fully loads again, you should get a pop-up out of the system tray, "Found new hardware device".

And another one, "Found Realtek xxxxx audio device"
(Using Realtek for an example)

Or go to HP Support, and look up the computer.
Drivers & Downloads
Download AND install the audio driver.

[SAVE the driver. In the small download window that comes up next; allow the file to fully download. DOUBLE-click on it. Click on Next, Next, and Finish; at the bottom of the next 3 small windows. Restart the computer ]

Or state the HP computer\'s Product Number.
This is on the back of the desktop computer, next to the Windows product key in a white Service Tag.
P/N = Product Number.

On display appears PROTECT. can not clear data. how to solve it? thanks

check all the speakers connections for short circuits

unplug from wall
unplug all of the speakers and extra components and turn it on to see if the message disapears

if it does one by one start plugging that speakers back in
unplugging from the wall every time you add a speaker
(just in case the reciver only realises there is a problem after it shuts down)

if you find that after pluging in a speaker and when you turn it on check the wires for cuts or short circuits and check the speaker itself replace it with another and see what happens

Amp keeps turnning off say to check speaker wires but speaker wires all ok i think

The amp turning off means you've got a shorted output, so I'd unplug your speakers, unplug the wires, etc, then plug it all back in, paying attention to the wires and where they're going.

No Sound from speakers BUT sub is working fine?

try to unplug and then plug again all the speaker's connections...make sure you do the right connections...or get a AA or AAA size battery, put the + side of battery to the + of speaker(alone/unplug),and momentarily touch the negative(-) side of battery to the negative(-) of your speaker,,you must hear a click from your speaker...if there's no click, you have a defective speaker..
