If the spin setting is not working chances are that your lid switch is bad. The lid switch is a safety feature installed that makes it so that unless the lid is closed the machine won't go into spin. This keeps from allowing the spin to shoot water all over the place if the lid is up. It is an easy fix though and very cheap. There are two panels on the side of the control panel. If you pop those off with a flat head screw driver you will find a screw holding down that control panel on each side. Remove those and then lay the panel back. Next insert the flat head under the front of the machine where the crack is at about an inch from the top of the machine. Pop it up and you will see the lid switch there underneath there. Remove it and follow to where it connects in the panel and disconnect and then install the new one. It should work fine again for you. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Could be the lid switch or the motor coupler. Click HERE to get a laymans guide to fixing this washer. It is easy to fix if you know the secret which is removing the cabinet.

My Kenmore series 80 washing machine will not automatically do the drain, rinse & spin cycle.

Hi,

please rotate your cycle dial in the opposite direction of its usual motion by 90 degrees (probably counter clockwise). Then you can run the cycle again and the drain/spin/rinse should work. Otherwise, please power cycle your washing machine.

Thank you.

Rinse cycle doesn't work

Your cold water valve is clogged. Most likely needs to be replaced or at least cleaned.

The rinse cycle does not work, but everything else does

I don't know if the problem is solved but last night we ran the washer without any clothes in it and everything seemed to work fine. My wife was able to run a load of laundry and it seemed to work. I hope it was just too much clothes the first time it stopped or the washer was just acting up. Either way, I had nothing to do with the fix. Sorry I couldn't be any more help. Thank you for the link to assistance plan, it might come in handy in the future.

Thanks again,

Won't complete cycle, stops at rinse. and can't get hot water.

Are you on well water? turn off the cold water to the washer and clean the screen filter out. do not leave filter out.
the machine probably has a cold only final rinse so it won't work properly.

Kenmore 80 Series - machine won't rinse or spin

Manually move the timer to the SPIN mode and turn it on.
If nothing happens, replace the lid switch.
With a model number I could be more specific.

Kenmore 90 series washer will get stuck in between cycles

Sounds like the timer has failed. It's a common problem.

Kenmore washer series 80, Clothes still soapy

If you are getting no water spray during the rinse cycle that would cause the soapy clothes issue.

Are you getting cold water during the wash/rinse cycles? If you have the machine set to warm/warm you may only be getting hot water while the final spin is calling for cold.

If you have cold water available then the timer is not calling for the water spray. The problem is either in the mixing valve or the timer.

Lent on clothes

Not familiar with this model but it sounds like too little water is being used (small, medium, large load) or a rinse cycle is being skipped.
With enough water and normal rinse cycles, the lint should be suspended and pumped down the drain. If this is happening with every load, then it isn't working properly.

Kenmore 80 series washer

Your transmission is not engaging thats why the speed changes your making will sometimes get it to work.Honestly any machine after the 10 year age mark is not worth the cost of replacing the transmission.
