Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else like the control board or connectors ;-0(
ok we need to check a couple of things...take the fill hose off ,,,now put unit in a cycle and make it call for water...is the inlet vavle humming or vibrating....will your there look in vavle and see if your inlet vavle screens are clogged...does the unit have water in it,,if so it wont fill with water in it...keep me posted onthejob
, did you try changing water temps switch to different settings, hot cold amd warm alll no good?? do you even hear a slight humm when trying to fill???, how about trying to put into spin cycle, does it do anything??? if you listen closly (put your ear to the timer knob assy)can oyu hear anything??? if not its quite oossible that you have a power issue, check your incoming power for 110 volts.
Your washer is still under manufacturer's warranty which is one full year. If it has Kenmore's name on it you do not need proof of purchase. The only thing you need is your mother-in-law's home phone number at time of purchase because Sears keeps all their records based on phone numbers.
