SOURCE: What hose gets hooked up for upholstery cleaner. The one that usually goes in front? I cant get my vacumn to turn on.

Hi!
You need to take the power nozzle off and attach the thing that looks like a little plastic "cup" with two hooks and a screen on it. This is the intake guard. Attach it to the front. Now remove the cloth bag and put the hose on the hole where the bag was. You'll have to line the arrow on the hose up with the notch on the Kirby and push the hose arm toward the Kirby until it pops on. (if the hose isn't all the way on, the vacuum will not run) If you need to, lube up the edges of the hole with a wee bit of vaseline or hand lotion. This makes the hose engage easier. If this didn't help, I have mnauals available.

SOURCE: i need to replace power supply. where the cord

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

Unfortunately there is no fuse on a Kirby Generation model. In my 10 years of repairing Kirby's as well as other vacuums I will tell you that 9 times out of 10, when a Kirby Generation doesn't turn on, it's the cord that needs to be replaced. This is by far the most common problem that we see on Kirby repairs.
The Kirby motor is very well built, and usually has a life of 30+ years (G3 is about 12-15 years now). The only other problem it could be on the Kirby would be carbon brushes, or the switch assembly.

I would first try testing the power cord, I think this will solve the problem for you. To test a cord on a Kirby Generation (all Generation models are the same machines, just different colors) first follow where the cord goes into the Kirby at the bottom. To access this cover easier, first remove the "boot" at the bottom of the outer bag. This is the plastic part at the bottom of the outer bag that connects onto the Kirby. You will see that there is a plastic cover over the cord. You will need to remove the screw that holds this cover on.

Now after you have removed the cover, pull the plug out of the machine. Once you have the cord disconnected from the machine, you can now test it to see if there is a short somewhere in the cord. You will need to purchase an inexpensive continuity tester from Home Depot, Radio Shack or most other electronic stores. This will tell you if there is power running through the cord, or if the cord is bad. With the continuity tester, plug the cord into the wall outlet, then put the positive, and negative testing rods into the female end of the cord that plugs into the machine. You will then be able to tell if the cord has continuity going through it. The tester will indicate if there's continuity or not.

The picture here shows that the cord is good. If your tester does not light up, or indicate that there is continuity, you'll simply just need to purchase a new cord. As I stated earlier, this is the most common reason that a Kirby won't turn on.

If however your cord tests OK, this indicates that the machine either needs a new motor (or carbon brushes in the motor) or it needs a new switch.

SOURCE: What would cause the suction to be weak?

Hello,
It sounds as though there is something stuck in the hose or outlet from the motor to the hose.

Model Silverado Deluxe 1505. When I turn the switch on it gives power to the floor brushes but the vacuum motor isn't working.

If you have power to the "electric power nozzle" but nothing in the motor, it could be a wiring issue, especially if someone has been "servicing it" lately and didn't replace the motor wires properly.
If not, given the age of your Silverado, it may be the motor itself.
I am in the business of servicing and rebuilding them if it would be helpful. mickeymackmark1@yahoo.com. Good Luck! Mick

Carpet beater not turning on, rest of vacuum ok, reset button down

Is the PN motor not working, or just the brush not spinning. If it's the brush, a new belt is needed.
If the motor isn't working, it could be due to several things. Follow the trouble shooting steps below.
1. Check all connections from hose handle to PN for discoloration. Any parts showing discoloration or melted plastic need to be replaced.
2. Attach PN directly to the hose. If the motor works, there's a problem in the wand wiring/connections.
3. Attach the Sidekick directly to the hose. If it works, but the full sized PN doesn't, there's a problem in the PN. Problems could include: wiring, connections, bad motor, bad switch.
4. If neither Sidekick nor PN work, the problem is likely in the hose. Potential problems include: bad wiring, connections, or bad switch.
5. You can try another hose known to be good to test the PN. If it still doesn't work, the problem could be in the canister itself.

I strongly recommend taking it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for diagnosis and repair if needed.

Bissell Healthy Home Vacumn

On the Healthy Homes Vac, did you check the switch for the vac, there are 2 on the handle, and the one could be open. Check the wiring at the motor, could even be the motor itself. If at the motor there is a thermostat, it could be bad, but comes with the motor.
