Question about IBM ThinkPad X41 Tablet PC

Still working on IBM Thinkpad x41....

Ok I have another Q. Install of windows 7 was started by a boot usb I borrowed... Not successful install ... get message set up was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition... see log files.. I really don't want win 7 I would rather go back to the win xp it had before it got dropped or whatever caused the ticking noise in the first place... I have the 7 disc of recovery for xp which would be easier IF the thinkpad had a cd/dvd.....I am wondering if anyone has used the SOFTPEDIA Setup from USB 2.1.0 and if it works good??? i have microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD tool and I have used it with a Win 7 ISO download but at 99% usb tool says can not finish.... I tried twice so I am thinking of using this Softpedia Setup from USB 2.1.0... And then if I have to do all that again I want to know about getting XP back instead,,,,,,, please let me know asap....

To recover the hard disk to it's original contents, do the following:

Note:

1. If the optical drive is not attached to your ThinkPad computer during recovery, DVD software and CD-recording software will not be installed. To ensure that they will be installed correctly, attach your ThinkPad computer to the X4 Dock and install the optical drive in the Ultrabay Slim before performing a recovery ioperation.

2. The recovery process might take up to 2 hours.

Attention: All of the files on the primary hard disk partition (usually drive C) will be lost in the recovry process. However, before any data is overwritten you will be give the opportunity to save one or more files to other media.

Power the computer using the AC adapter and ensure a fully charged battery is installed before proceeding.

1. If possible, save all your files and shutdown your operating system.

2. Turn off the computer for at least 5 secounds.

3. Turn on your computer. Watch the display carefully. While the message. "To inturrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button" is displayed at the lower left of the screen, press the Access IBM button. The Rescue and Recovery workspace opens.

4. Click Restore your system.

You can use Ophcrack, an open source software. You don't need any access to Windows to be able to recover your lost passwords. Simply visit the site, download the free ISO image, burn it to a CD and boot from the CD. The Ophcrack program starts, locates the Windows user accounts, and proceeds to recover (crack) the passwords - all automatically.

Here is the link to download you ISO file to burn to a cd.
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ophcrack/ophcrack-xp-livecd-2.3.1.iso

Or use Another computer by installing the exe file and make a cd for your recovery:

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, usually one is able to download if available, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers, for spare parts and service, Driver downloads and Installation Instructions as required.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

There are no XP drivers to be found with Microsoft as XP is no longer supported.

Some manufacturers may have a limited number of Drivers still listed.

I hope this helps.
