Yes,some are replaceable from inside the cooking chamber, but some you need to remove the outer cover and on these you may need a security torx screw driver to remove the screws holding the cover on

Hi, The bulb has blown on my Russell Hobbs microwave, and the manual say to call out a technician! I don't have a top cover to open so can't replace it myself, and my manual doesn't show how to replac

The "top cover" is the wraparound sheet metal enclosure. It has to be removed to replace the lamp. The attaching screws often are special and require a special tool for removal. Se sure power is disconnected before beginning removal! Once inside, there are high voltage points to avoid while replacing the lamp. Reverse the procedure to reassemble the enclosure.

How to replace burned out light bulb

You need to remove the top cover to access the bulb. That is the only way on most microwaves.

DEBBILS@COMCAST.NETwhere is my light bulb it burned out. I have a ge compact microwave oven. Model number is JES 1139WLO3

Replacement of the lamp should be carried out by a qualified appliance repair service.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!

Attempt this only if you are competent.

But here is a basic method if you are mechanically minded and have electrical safety knowledge.

The lamp is sat in a housing and its position is adjacent to the vent holes that it shines through.
If you feel confident, disconnect it from the mains power, remove anything in the cavity.
Remove the microwave cover. Purchasing a new replacement lamp will be useful as it will give you an idea of what it looks like. Locate the dead lamp remove the lamp and fit the new one. Replace the covers. Plug it back in and try the lamp by opening the door.
Hope this helps.

Light bulb burned out- can I replace myself?

Yes you can. The cover has to come off the microwave to access the bulb. There are several screws around the back and sides. Remove these and the cover should lift off, revealing the bulb. For your own safety, make sure that the microwave has been unplugged from the outlet for several hours before attempting this repair.

When I was unscrewing a burnt out hood lamp on

I would not use the lamps. Sounds like there is a shortage in the wiring for the lamps. They lamps should run together, and if one of the sockets have a short or burned wire it will not let it complete the circuit. This could be a fire hazard, so I would replace the whole microwave. It would be more trouble to tear it apart and find the exact problem than it's worth.

One surface light bulb on GE Profile microwave keeps burning out

I have the same problem. The left one burns out within a couple of hours use, the other one lasts a couple of months and is then gone. This pattern has repeated over 8 years. I replace them every now and then and then just go without until I get the urge again to fix it. Maybe smaller lower wattage lamps are worth trying...
