Re: ipd - locked and "do not disconeect." message

From the website, this is how to perform a soft reset on your iPod. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod.

Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC.

Open the iTunes application by using the dock icon on a Mac or the start menu on a PC.

Click on the name of your iPod under the "Devices" list in the main iTunes window.

Click on the "Sync" button to create a connection between the computer and the iPod.

Click on the eject symbol after the syncing process is complete, and then unplug your iPod from the computer.

Don't know how to reject the ipod nano when charging at computer

    1. Once the iPod is attached to the iPod and USB port in the computer, an icon will appear at the bottom of the computer desktop. The icon is from removing the USB Mass Storage Device
    2. Now, click on the enject icon and it will show which drive the USB cord is attached to. Once the icon is clicked on, the iPod will show an arrow going down and reading "OK to disconnect". Once able to disconnect, the USB cord can be removed from iPod.
    3. Another way to eject the iPod from USB cord is through iTunes. Once anything you want sync'd to your iPod is complete, a message will appear on the iPod reading, "OK to disconnect". Just like it did on the ejecting icon on your desktop.

I need to unlock my ipod touch i forgot the 4 digit password

Connect your iPod to the computer that your iPod is registered to (usually the one you have transfered music files from to your iPod). When your iPod is showing in the browser field in iTunes, disconnect your iPod according to proper way (different for PC and Mac).
Your iPod should now be unlocked.
Of course you must have iTunes opened on your computer, by default it opens automatically when you connect your iPod, but you might have altered the setting earlier.

If this does not work, check out this page:

Ipod Nano can't unlock volume lock

First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the left, here's how you reset:

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.

If that doesn't work, try a restore. This will return it go factory settings.

    How to restore iPod
    1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer.
    2. Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed.
    3. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
    4. After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
    5. Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
    6. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
      • Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
      • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
      • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
      • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
    7. If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.
    8. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
      • Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
      • Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
    9. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
    10. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

    Ipod always on hold

plug it into your comp and iTunes will unlock it for you
This support document also provides additional information on locking and unlocking the iPod. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the iPod by doing the following:
Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your iPod is associated with, do this:
    1. Restore your iPod. Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
    2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
    3. Open iTunes and synchronize

Do Not Disconnect message will not disappear

There are several things you can try: 1. First and most simple way of solving this common problem is pressing the menu and center button for about 6 seconds. 2. If iTunes is open, close it and see if the message disappears. If it's closed, try to re-open it and click the "eject" icon on the lower right of the screen. 3. Go to My Computer, right click on the iPod icon and select "Eject". If the message still appears, open your Task Manager by clicking Ctrl+Alt+Delete (at the same time) and under the "Processes" tab close and program that looks like it's related to your iPod. 4. If nothing else worked and you've tried all of the above ? just disconnect your iPod. Make sure you've closed all the programs related to it through the Task Manager, as explained above. This has to fix it. Good luck!
