SOURCE: moved tv and it went dark

BE VERY CAREFUL!! This area is part of the output transformer which produces the HIGH voltage to the screen. The one to adjust is the SCREEN control. I would be surpised if just moving the TV would have caused this to have altered.

No signal when tuning in tv

Try a hard reset to this set first. If it do not help you; check and replace the main system control memory IC. it is faulty.
There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

My PHILIPS 34PT9420 tunes only fifty channels and not more than that.Earlier it use to tune 99 channels. So kindly tell me how to tune all 99 channels or how i may have changed some of its factory settings...

Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check.

Green screen

Try doing a "factory reset". This will "burp the baby". Turn the set on and ignore what you see. From the side control panel, push the volume+ and channel+ buttons in synch. This will take you to a base OSD (on-screen display) that can best be compared to the BIOS on your PC. The real goodies are here.

On the OSD, you'll see "picture", "audio", and "advance". Using standard navigational input on the remote, go to "advance". Tab down to "clear all". The set will appear to turn off, but the front LED will remain blue. The set is re-formatting the on-board memory and will restart in a few seconds.

Your panel should now restart as normal, but will be returned to factory "burn-in defaults". Your color and audio adjustments will be lost, so you'll have to do some fine-tuning in the regular OSD menu. Cycle power to the TV after you have made the desired adjustments.

TIP: Perform the factory re-set a second time, then select "picture". Toggle down to "video format". You might find it set to "Pal". Change this, using standard navigational input on the remote, to "NTCS" or "AUTO". Cycle power to the TV after you have made the desired adjustments. The TV will now perform at a refresh rate of 60hz, the American standard. "Pal" is 50hz, the EU and Asian standard. The improvement to image quality will be noticable very soon, as both your eyes and the set adapt to 9.94 hz improvement. NOTE: You may need to fine-tune the TV again after making this change.
