You want to send them to my pictures folder or downloads or documents. try that. This should be easy. just because a camera has a CD with it does not mean you have to install any thing. let windows do all the work. put the cd aside and just use the patch cord from camera to PC USB port. or if your camera has a memory card... pull it out and slide that into the port on the front of your PC into the SD Mini port. works great that way too.

Look inside the DCIM folder. You should see another folder, then the pictures inside that inner folder.
Better yet, don't connect your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Pics gone in DCIM folder. Using a Nikon s3000 coolpix camera, connected to computer, F:\s3000 is detected, within it is DCIM folder present, and within DCIM folder presents Nikon100 and Nikon101 folders,...

You cannot create new folders on an SD card and copy images to them, as the camera will not recognise them, since they were not create in the camera. Copy the entire contents of the card to a folder on your HDD, then format the card in the camera.

If all your images are backed up on your computer, just format the media card IN THE CAMERA, and that should re-set everything for you when next you take a photo.

I Can't see the pictures or even copy it when I connect it to the computer? what will I do? thanks. GODBLESSU!!!!!!!!

Hi,

The solution depends upon the Operating System. There are many options for transferring the images from the Camera to the Computer. You can either use the supplied Software for transferring the images to the Computer or with the help of Windows Explorer.
Let's try to set the Camera in PTP/MTP Mode and check if it the computer detects the Camera as a Removable Drive. To set the PTP/MTP Mode, select the USB Connect option from the Main Settings 2 Menu of the Camera.
If the Camera is detected as a Removable Drive in the Computer window, then open the DCIM Folder to copy all the images.
If the Software is installed in the Computer, then the Import Media Files screen of the Picture Motion Browser appears automatically.
Click on Import option to import the images. By default, images are imported into a folder created in Pictures folder that is named with the date of importing.

This should help you in transferring the images.

Thanks for using FixYa.

What is a DCIM FILE, How can I convert Into a dcim file. I would like to copy picture in my Camera it is copying but when I run the camera shows no picture.

The DCIM file is the folder is the folder which images or pictures taken are saved. Inside the DCIM folder should be should be one or more folders. The picture files are stored in one of these two folders. Look for the filenames that end in .jpg or something like DSC0001.JPG or DSC0002.JPG.

When you plugged in your camera to your computer's usb device, right click on your Start button, and choose Explore. The windows explorer window will open. Click on the (-) beside My Computer and the (-) beside Local Drive C: to minimize the list of folders. Now, you should be looking at the drive letter that defines your Camera. It could be drive E or F. Click on that drive and it will show your the contents on your right panel. Look for those folders and copy them to your local drive.

If you need further assistance, dont hesitate to ask or comment back.

Goodluck!

I have a Sony Cyper-shot 6.o Mega Pixels camera (given to me with no manual) I've got the cord to connect camera to PC. I cannot figure out how to load the pictures from the camera onto my e-mail account.

The mamory card in the camera will show up as a "Removable Disk" on your computer.

1. Go to "My Computer". The camera will probably be Drive E.
2. Click on Drive E (or whatever the "removable disk" is) and open (click) any folders that show up. The pictures will be several folders down.
3. You can then copy these to your "My Pictures" folder in "My Documents" or "browse" to that drive when you want to attach a picture to your email

Hope this helps!

Picture folder won't open

If the DCIM folder is where the camera keeps its images, then you have no images on the card.

Otherwise, have a browse through the memory card for another folder. The folders are named differently depending on your camera. My Pentax keeps them in "DCIM", but Kodak (for example) might keep them in a different folder.
