My alpine deck used to play burned cd's and mp3's as well but now for some reason it will only play store bought ones i was wondering if maybe i pressed a programming button on the face or maybe on my remote?

The Alpine cda-7842 was not intended to play burned cd's and Mp3's. I don't recemmend you play anything but store bought cd's. I belive that the laser can be damaged by playing Mp3's and they sometimes make weird noises because of the laser seeking erratically, due to the year that cda-7842 was manufactered.

2 - You've burned songs in a different format than required by your car player
1 - you'd be able to do it through BT if your car has this feature. Just pair them

CD player won't play MP3 CD's?

I have had similar problems in the past - on one computer discs burned using nero were unreliable but using Windows Media Player they were fine and on other computers the Windows programme was useless and produced unreliable inconsistent results.

I suggest you experiment with different burning software and maybe suspect the drive you are using might be past it's best.
I have several cd players in my vehicles and around my home. Only a couple of them will play all the discs and most of them are very choosy and will only read premium price shop bought discs and it is a waste of time trying to play a discount store or freebie disc, or many of my computer burned discs.

I don't know what the differences are - maybe it is the software or the power of the laser burning the disc or the sensitivity of the reading laser, but there are many differences in there somewhere. The situation is very frustrating...

You have to connect the mp3 player to a back port on the deck, its called an AI-net port. You can find it on crutchfield.com

hmmm if you bought the alpine deck originally your best bet might be to call them, and see about getting it properly repaired. otherwise, check craigslist or ebay for broken alpine decks with the tilt function. should be pretty easy to fix. also you could open up the cd player and check to see if maybe something just slipped off.
